Stuck In a Rut – Bidding strategies

One definition of “insanity” is “doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result.” How can we apply this to DealDash.com?

The reason DealDash is a fun and exciting way to shop is because it does not do the same thing over and over again. To keep the site interesting it changes the special features and often introduces new auction products.

If we did not win anything for a long time, however, we might feel like we are stuck. Virus quarantine policy might mandate we can no longer go out to dinner or even visit friends. Therefore, we might be stuck at home but we do not have to be stuck on DealDash.com.

We do not have to continue to do the same thing over and over again. If we feel stuck we can change our bidding strategy, the days and times of the day that we shop or choose to bid in different auctions.

Bidding Strategies

Many DealDash shoppers place only one bid in an auction at the beginning just so ensure that we do not get locked out if we decide to come back to place more bids later on. Some shoppers check to see how much an auction sold for the last five or ten times. If an auction seldom sells for less than $25.00 one strategy would be to place the bulk of our bids when the selling price gets close to the average selling price in the past. The problem with this strategy is that it might close a lot sooner than that. If everyone else places only one bid at the beginning and we end up being the only one who places more than one bid, we could end up winning a great bargain.

We might also look at how we choose to use our bids. For example, if we have four shoppers who have 300 bids each all four shoppers might choose a different strategy. One might place all 300 bids in one auction, another might put 150 bids in two different auctions, a third might place 100 bids in three auctions and a fourth might place 25 bids in 12 auctions. The question is, “which one is the best option?” That is what we each must figure out for ourselves. We’ve all heard the saying, “Don’t put all of your eggs in one basket.” On the other hand, if we spread our bids around in too many auctions at the same time, that might not work out for us either. Perhaps the best answer is to simply change what we are doing.

Days, Times We Bid

If we feel stuck, perhaps we could change the days or times of the day that we shop.

If we usually shop on DealDash on weekends, we might try shopping on week days instead. If we shop only in the evenings, we might try shopping at noon or in the morning. The main idea is just to change something.

Choose Different Auctions

Sometimes we get so set on winning one or two particular auctions that we never bid on anything else. However, if we want to break a non-winning cycle, it might be a good idea to place some bids on something else that might be easier to win.

To find out what might be easy products to win it is a good idea to look at the featured winner’s list. By looking at that list we can see what products are selling for a bargain price.

Most importantly, we might simply have to make a change. Whenever we make a change we can expect a different result so we no longer feel stuck.
