DealDash Tips to Stop Overbidding

Finding yourself overbidding in the middle of an auction can be a little stressful. Here are some of the top DealDash tips to stop overbidding.

Are you the sort of person who just click, click, clicks the bid button when you’re in a DealDash auction? Stop that! You’re not doing yourself any favors by overbidding, and you’re probably annoying the other bidders as well. Before you find out how to stop overbidding, you’re going to have to figure out why you’re overbidding. Here are some tips fro DealDash to help.

You’re Overexcited

Are you new on DealDash? Are you still in the “oh so excited” honeymoon phase? Being overexcited is a very common reason that people tend to overbid in DealDash auctions. The way to correct this, of course, is to slow down! Think before you act. Don’t be impulsive.

Not Counting Your Bids

Along with being overexcited, another reason that you might be overbidding is that you just aren’t paying attention to how many bids that you are spending. It’s very easy to keep clicking and not pay attention to how many bids that you’re really spending. There is a simple solution to this as well – BidBuddy! BidBuddy is here for you. You don’t need to sit there and click, click, click and lose track of how many bids that you are spending. Figure out ahead of time how many bids that you want to spend on a particular auction, input that amount into the BidBuddy, and let him do the clicking for you.

Using the BidBuddy on every single auction is a smart move. Do you always use your BidBuddy? You should! In addition to helping you keep track of how many bids that you are spending, the BidBuddy can save you if your power goes out, your internet connection flickers, or your computer decides to do the dreaded “Update, install, and re-start” when you are in the middle of bidding in a DealDash auction. Be smart, use BidBuddy – every time.

Do You Know the Value of the Item?

Another reason that you might overbid in an auction is that you don’t know the actual value of the item. Every DealDash item clearly displays the retail price of the item on the auction, however, not everyone pays attention to this. You can tell that people aren’t paying attention when they end up spending $50 on a $50 item. That’s just silly because you have to take into account the price of the bids that they spent as well. Be smart and check out the value of the item before you start bidding all over the place. You will save yourself some bids, money, and aggravation as well.

DealDash Tips: Getting to Know the Bidders

dealdash avatar

Do you know who you’re up against? Let’s get to know the other bidders.

There are many different types of bidders on DealDash. These bidders come from the 48 contiguous states and all different walks of life. You might be up against a retired grandma, a 21-year-old college kid, and a “shark” of a lawyer, all in the same auction! It’s interesting how there are so many different types of bidders there are, you can get a small glimpse into their life from reading their little bidder bio. Along with so many different types of people come different bidding styles. Here are some tips from DealDash on spotting the different types of bidders.

The Scattered Bidder

Bidders that scatter their bids here and there seemingly without too much thought behind it aren’t usually too much of a threat, in my opinion. These bidders are usually newbies, and don’t usually realize how many bids that it might really take to win an auction. Normally these bidders will throw 10 or 15 bids into an auction manually instead of using the BidBuddy, get frustrated, and move on.

Power Bidders

Everyone knows the Power Bidders! These are the bidders that just don’t stop. The Power Bidders will bid more than the value of the auction just to prove a point. These are bidders who will bid 1,000 bids on an item that’s only worth 400 bids, just to show everyone that they’re here to win. The Power Bidders are bidders that you really don’t want to tangle with. If I were you, I’d keep a list of the Power Bidders and make it a point not to get involved in auctions with them.

Smart Bidders

It should go without saying that a smart bidder is the kind of bidder that you want to be. Smart bidders are bidders who do their research, pick the best items, and bid cautiously. Smart bidders use their BidBuddies, stay away from the Power Bidders, and don’t get too emotionally invested in the auctions. These bidders are people who tend to win regularly, and BIN (Buy It Now) regularly as well. Smart bidders know that you can’t win them all, and they can get all of their bids back as well as free shipping when they BIN an item that they know they won’t win but have invested too many bids to quit. If you’re not a smart bidder, no problem! You can start implementing the practices of a smart bidder right away, and be well on your way to winning more auctions.

Tips for Winning Last Minute Auctions

DealDash auctions

Are you a “last minute” type of person? It’s possible to win an auction last minute, here are some tips from DealDash.

Do you do things at the very last minute? Might some people call you a bit of a procrastinator? Normally, I recommend doing research on the auctions and the bidders you go up against. However, if you’re just naturally a last minute type of person you will enjoy reading these tips that are just for you.

Stick to Low-Value Auctions

Bidding last minute and winning is possible, but it’s doubtful that you will win high-valued items. If bidding last minute is your preferred method, then stick to the low-valued auctions. What do I mean by low-valued? In the DealDash world, things under $200 are considered lower-valued. This doesn’t mean that they aren’t great items or auctions, they are just a lower price.

There are lots of great items that are under $200 such as sheet sets, necklaces, rings, candles, bid packs, purses and laptop bags, and many more things. Just because things are priced lower doesn’t mean that they aren’t good quality, these are nice items that come with manufacturer’s warranties included.

Bid on One of Many

Have you noticed that DealDash offers the same or similar items a few times per day? If you’re in the mood to win a last minute auction, then seek out these items. If there are 2 or more items that are the same or very similar going on at the same time, then you have a better chance of winning one quickly than a highly sought after and rare item.

Try Bidding on Bid Packs

Bid packs are something that every bidder can use, and they come up for auction many, many times per day. Bid packs are great for a quick win because they often end for a low price, therefore ending fairly quickly. You probably could have figured this out on your own, but if you stick to bid packs of 100 or less they will usually end fast. Just click on this link right here and it will take you to all of the current auctions for bid packs.

Tips to Stay in the Auction

IN IT TO WIN IT DEALDASH

Finding yourself in a difficult auction happens to all of us sometimes. You have to figure out the best way to stay in the auction. Here are some tips from DealDash.

Are you “In it to win it” when you play in DealDash auctions, or are you just wasting some idle free time? I would guess that you’re “In it to win it” because otherwise, why bother? Being committed to every auction that you enter goes a long way towards winning more auctions. If you need a little bit of help staying in the auction when times get tough, here are some tips to help.

Take a Break

Yes, taking a break might seem counterintuitive, but it can really work well in some cases. If you’re in an auction and have placed a few bids before the $5 No Jumper cut off then you’re safe as long as there are multiple bidders still going at it. If you see that there are over 5 bidders still bidding “hot and heavy” against each other, then I would feel secure in taking a little break. Of course, the joke might be on you and all of them stop bidding at the same time, but when there are at least 5 people bidding it’s unlikely that the auction will end within the next 15-30 minutes. Sometimes you just need to take a little break to clear your head and renew your concentration.

Take a Break (With Your Buddy)

If you don’t feel secure in canceling your bids to take a break, then be sure to load up your BidBuddy with enough bids to reach the BIN (But It Now) price. For example, if you really feel like you need a short break, but there are only 3 bidders bidding then be sure to do it this way. You’d feel terrible if you took a quick bathroom and snack break only to come back and see that someone else won. Be safe, take a break with your best bud – BidBuddy.

Not Too Far In?

How many bids have you spent on this auction thus far? If you’ve spent less than 100 you might want to think about backing out if you’re having a tough time. I know that I can tell when I am definitely not going to win. It’s just a feeling that I get. However, there could be other reasons why you feel like you’re definitely not going to win, such as running low on bids, running out of time to bid before you need to leave your house, or perhaps a new bidder entered the auction that you have dealt with in the past and don’t wish to bid against again. No matter what the reason, there’s no shame in canceling your bids and looking for a different auction. DealDash often offers the same item within a few days of each other, maybe you’ll have more luck in the next one!
