How DealDash and I Created a Wish List Monster

I’ve won a good deal of auctions on DealDash over the past two years and have enjoyed winning items for my adult children and family members for holidays and birthdays. During that time I’ve largely kept my activity under wraps—that is, until my 27-year-old son spied me trying to win one particular item and exclaimed, “Hey! What is that?” Ut-oh. Busted.

I was caught trying to win him a survival tool I thought would be perfect for him to use while camping or ice fishing, two of the things he loves doing most. This led to him peer over my shoulder and ask, “What else do they have?” Oh no. I fear I have just created a wish list monster.

My son is a hunting, fishing and outdoor enthusiast and it really doesn’t matter what time of year it is here in Upstate New York. When it comes to being outdoors, that’s where you’ll find him most of the time.

From there, my son took over the computer, browsing the auctions and creating a wish list of items he would love to have me win for him on DealDash. Among them are tools, fishing and camping gear, backpacks and more.

I’d already won him a backpack that he and, as it turns out, his friends absolutely rave about. Now I’ve got requests to “get them one too.” Another great item my son set his sights on was a backpack and seat in one. My son said, “Oh wow! I love this! You really need to get this for me.”

To that I simply replied, “I already did. It’s in the box in the living room. I was going to give it to you for Christmas but…”  That’s when he took off like a shot toward the living room and opened his early Christmas gift. I told him he is going to get a big empty box for Christmas now and he said he didn’t care.

He took the backpack with a built-in seat to a music festival that weekend and was the envy of everyone he met.  People would exclaim, “Wow! Is that a backpack and a seat in one?” How cool!” My son described the ease and security of always having your necessities with you—and always having a seat!

Now my son explains to his friends and random people he meets at music festivals how his mom gets these great deals on DealDash—and how he gets Christmas presents throughout the year!

Here’s to successful bidding and awesome wins!
