DealDash and the BBB: A great rating

Did you know DealDash.com is an Accredited Business with an “A” rating from the Better Business Bureau? Anyone can check it out. The BBB ratings run from A+ (highest) to F (lowest).

Now why is that important? For one thing, no business receives such a high rating without “earning” it. Therefore, this “A” rating by the BBB should give DealDash customers the confidence to know that DealDash is indeed a fair and honest penny-auction shopping site.

According to the BBB, “ratings represent the BBB’s opinion of how the business is likely to interact with its customers,” and DealDash has always excelled in customer service. In fact, DealDash provides the best customer service I have ever received.

According to the BBB, its rating is also based on information they obtain about the business, including complaints received from the public. In other words, the BBB not only uses information directly from businesses, but they also use information they get from public data sources.

Information found on public data sources is where even the best companies in the world might have some of its greatest challenges. Why? We cannot believe all of the information we see on various public sources because it can be misleading or just plain wrong. Whenever that happens it reminds me of something my mother said, “You can have a basket full of beautiful, delicious red apples, but all it takes is one bad apple to spoil the whole bunch.” This quote substantiates the human condition that a few people just like to complain and are never satisfied with anything.

Likewise, the large majority of happy and satisfied DealDash customers write positive reviews on these public data sites. However, all it takes is a single complaint to confuse or discourage new customers. Compared to the large number of customers DealDash serves, the number of complaints is low and they usually come from players who never learned how to play. That hardly seems fair, does it?  That’s why I don’t like to see any company receive an unfair negative review in a public forum.

Based on an average of 377 Customer Reviews, the BBB gave DealDash a 4.02 out of a possible 5 stars. That isn’t bad. In fact, it’s very good. But if the truth were known about the unfair negative reviews, DealDash would most likely receive an even higher or perfect 5-star rating.

What do I base this assumption on? Well, I’ve read some of the complaints posted, and as a long-time DealDash customer, it’s obvious to me that nearly all of the complaints have nothing to do with anything the company did wrong. Instead, it had everything to do with new shoppers who started playing before they learned how to play. Most of us have seen shoppers like that – those who bid every other one because they do not yet know how to use BidBuddy. DealDash has done everything possible to help new customers learn how to play smart. They even provide a practice video to help new customers get started.

One of my favorite quotes by poet John Lydgate (later adapted by President Abraham Lincoln) explains this phenomenon very well. Lydgate wrote, “You can please some of the people all of the time, you can please all of the people some of the time, but you can’t please all of the people all of the time.” In spite of the fact it’s an impossible feat to accomplish, DealDash continuously strives to “please all of the people all of the time.” LOL!

The bottom line

If you are here to read helpful winning tips, you are off to a good start. A lot of helpful information is also provided on the bottom of the DealDash home page.

DealDash has now been in business 14 years, and no company stays in business that long unless they are doing a lot of things right.

Informed shoppers who learn how to play smart are usually happy and satisfied customers who win plenty of auctions. But if you never learned how to play smart, please do not blame the company. Instead of writing an unfair negative review, do the right thing and reach out to customer service. If you do that, you can soon become a happy and satisfied customer, too.

Happy shopping everyone!

Autographed Sports Items

Do you want to make a sports fan in your family more than happy – like to the moon and back happy? Thanks to DealDash.com now you can!

Did you see the autographed sports memorabilia up for auction on DealDash.com? Name your favorite team – Chicago White Sox, Philadelphia Phillies, San Diego Padres, Oakland Athletics, Boston Red Sox, New York Yankees, Seattle Mariners, Los Angeles Dodgers or perhaps the Chicago Cubs. You name it and you just may be able to find the autographed sports item of your dreams.

I see auctions for a football helmet, baseballs, bats and even sports clothing, including replica jersey tops. Let’s take a look at some of these items.

Autographed baseballs

How about an autographed baseball? Who are your favorite players? DealDash has several different autographed baseballs from a wide variety of teams and players.

The BIN varies and runs from $90 to $300 depending on the team and the signature. The most common BIN price tags are $130 and $250.  Some previous winners have gotten some fantastic deals, too. On June 24, one winner paid only 52 cents including the cost of the 2 bids placed.

Did you know that the history of baseball goes back a long way? According to my research, baseball began around the mid-1800s by Abner Doubleday in Cooperstown, New York.

The first official game of baseball took place in 1846 in Hoboken, New Jersey. However, the first professional baseball team that was established was in Cincinnati, and they were called the Red Stockings.

An autographed football helmet

Perhaps you have a son who is a huge football fan. How about the Las Vegas Raiders?

This football helmet has a BIN of $750 but several past winners got it for much less than that.

  • June 18, this autographed football helmet sold at $1.63 and the winner paid a total of $10.63 including the cost of the 45 bids placed;
  • June 23, this autographed football helmet sold at $2.35 and the winner paid a total of $$18.75 including the cost of the 82 bids placed.
  • June 20, this autographed football helmet sold at $8.51 and the winner paid a total of $25.33 including the cost of the 116 bids placed.

This authentic helmet with multiple inscriptions and hand-signed autograph is part of a limited edition of 20. For more detailed information, see the auction description.

More about the game of football

According to my research, in 1823 during a school football match, a student named William Webb Ellis is said to have first picked up the ball and run with it, and thus he created a new style of play, where picking the ball up and running with it was preferred over kicking it.

On Nov. 6, 1869, Rutgers and Princeton played the first ever a college soccer football game. The game used modified London Football Association rules. During the next seven years, rugby gained favor with the major eastern schools over soccer, and modern football began to develop from rugby.

Shopping for Pets

Are you a dog or cat lover? Did you notice all of the items available for pets on DealDash.com?

Most people who own dogs or cats consider them to be part of the family. Therefore, it’s important to make our pets feel as comfortable as possible, and DealDash has several items that can do just that.

Our family had several dogs and cats on our farm when I was a child. I also had a Black Lab when I was a young adult, but items like pet travel seats were not available back then. In fact, I am surprised at all the awesome items we can buy for our pets now. I do not have a pet now, but if I did, I think I would go on a pet-shopping frenzy!

Let’s take a look at one product that will be sure to delight your pets, whether you have cats or dogs.

Pet travel seat

I certainly wish I would have had a good car seat for our family dog when my sons were young.

I decided not to take our dog Sneaker with us on a long trip because I was concerned our dog might bother me while I was driving. I also thought our dog might get too hot in the car. Therefore, when we went to visit my aunt for the 4th of July, we left Sneaker at home in the care of our neighbors. As it turned out, fireworks in the neighborhood spooked our dog when he was not wearing a leach and Sneaker ran off and was hit by a vehicle on the road. When we returned from our road trip, we were so sad to learn our dog was injured so badly he had to be put to sleep. If only we had a good doggy car seat we could have taken Sneaker with us. That’s why I think it’s a good idea to own a good car seat for your family dog.

DealDash now has a high-quality road-ready pet travel seat with a BIN of $433.

This pet travel seat has been receiving rave reviews. Many people stated that their pets (cats and dogs) absolutely love having their own car seat made especially for them. Based on 33 reviews from previous winners, this car seat for pets received an overall rating of 4.91 out of a possible 5.0. That’s outstanding!

After reading the auction description on DealDash, it sounds like this pet travel seat is perfect for cats or small and medium-sized dogs. It measures 19-inches by 14-inches by 13-inches. However, several past winners stated that this pet car seat is “bigger than expected.” One winner said her dog is too big for this car seat but her dog does not care, jumps in and wants to ride in it, anyway. One thing is for certain: This is pet travel seat ensures your cats or dogs will travel in “comfort and style.”

For more detailed information, read the auction description.

The bottom line

DealDash.com now has many auction items available for pets including some of the following:

  • Pet side carrier pack
  • Pet beds
  • Climbing tree (for cats)
  • Pet tent
  • Pet cube
  • Pumpkin pet bed

In the past, I saw some dog coats, too, so keep your eyes open for more products to keep your four-legged family members comfortable and happy.

Winning Tips

I wasn’t going to do any shopping on DealDash.com today, but the daily challenge was to get three extra hours on the clock for placing 500 bids. Today’s Father’s Day feature also offered us 3X time on the clock for each bid. That was too good to turn down so I decided to go for it and I’m sure glad I did.

I just won a 691 bid pack using only 38 bids. Do you want to know how I did it?

Looking for trends

I usually place bids on smaller bid packs because they are often easier to win using a fewer bids. While I was checking out the Winners’ List, however, I noticed one larger bid pack of 691 bids sold early a couple times and the winners only used a small number of bids. It looked like a trend, so I decided to place some bids on the 691 bid pack, too, and it worked!

Sometimes other shoppers might be thinking alike. In this case it appeared shoppers were fiercely competing to win the smaller bid packs while the larger 691 bid pack was somewhat being ignored. Why? Many shoppers assume the larger bid packs that are more difficult to win. However, that’s not always true. In this case, it was easier to win the larger bid pack.

Below are more lessons I learned on how to win auctions using fewer bids.

The early bird catches the worm

When I was a child, my mother often told me, “The early bird catches the worm,” and I had no idea what she was talking about. Later in life I learned. That advice can work really well when shopping on DealDash, too.

Most shoppers place only one bid at the beginning of an auction so they will not get locked out from competing later on. Many of those shoppers get focused on other auctions and never return. Therefore, it’s a good idea to place more than one bid in the early part of an auction. Sometimes auctions suddenly sell and close earlier than shoppers anticipate. If we happened to be one of the few “early birds” that placed more than one bid during the early part of an auction, we can sometimes slip through the cracks and win early, too.

Know when to hold some bids for later

When six to eight shoppers are seriously competing for the win, it might not make sense to compete with that many. Instead, we can save a lot of bids by waiting until the auction looks like it will soon close because it’s down to only two or three other shoppers. If we look at the selling price for previous winners, we can often get a good idea when the time is right to jump in with a bunch of bids.

At that point, one of the following three things will likely happen:

  1. If our competitors joined the auction early and we joined the auction late, we might outbid our shopping opponents and win;
  2. If our final shopping opponents are “never quitters” who frequently overbid, we might have a better opportunity to win if we cancel our bids and place them in another duplicate auction instead;
  3. If we are one of the three final shoppers we might see one of our competitors drop out but as soon as one drops out, another one jumps in. That could happen several times and we never know how many “hold-out” shoppers planning to do the same thing. We can do a “test” to find out, but it’s a little risky when we’re one of only three shoppers. We could drop out temporarily to see if another shopper will jump in, but the auction could suddenly close if we do that. However, if someone else does jump in, we can save our bids until one drops out again. If not, we can quickly put our bids back in.

Many DealDash shoppers are pretty smart and have developed some excellent winning strategies. Regardless, that’s all part of the challenge that makes this kind of shopping so much fun, right?
