Shopping for Light Fixtures

Does your house still have the same light fixtures it had 30 years ago? If so, perhaps it’s time to update them.

My old light fixtures made it difficult for me to change my light bulbs. As I got older and stopped climbing ladders, I decided to change my light fixtures to make it easier to change burned-out light bulbs. One thing I did was buy chandeliers that hang lower, so I could reach them easily without climbing ladders. At the same time, my new light fixtures gave my home a more modern look at the same time.

DealDash.com has several auctions featuring new, more stylish light fixtures, so this might be a good time to get some good deals on new light fixtures for your house, too, especially when previous winners give a light fixture an overall 5.0 rating out of a possible 5.0.

I found one of these auctions.

Three-Light Chandelier

Previous winners just love this three-light chandelier with a BIN of $510.

According to the auction information, this chandelier is “ideal for small-sized spaces such as a dining area or small kitchen. The length is 21-inches, the width is 17-inches and the height is 62.5-inches.

So far, some of the best deals previous DealDash customers won in this three-light chandelier auction are:

  • Oct. 25, this chandelier sold at 11 cents and the winner paid a total of 63 cents including the cost of the 3 bids placed;
  • Oct. 27, this chandelier sold at 71 cents and the winner paid a total of $1.91 including the cost of the 6 bids placed; and
  • Oct. 14, this chandelier sold at only 14 cents and the winner paid a total of $1.23 including the cost of the 6 bids placed.

We could never find prices like this for a brand new chandelier in any store. Several other shoppers won outstanding deals on this light fixture, too.

Twelve-Light Chandelier

This 12-light chandelier with an amazing cascading glass shade has a BIN of $2,664. This chandelier would definitely add an elegant updated touch to your home.

According to the specifications, this chandelier is 29.5-inches in height and the maximum hanging height is 101.5-inches. The depth is 13-inches and the chain length is 6-feet. This light fixture requires 12 bulbs with 60 watts per bulb. That adds up to a total wattage of 720, and the voltage is 120.

It does not yet have any customer reviews, but according to the auction description, it has some unique features:

  • Designed to cast light in a downward direction
  • Includes 72-inches of chain for a maximum height of 101.5-inches
  • Features an elegant cascading glass shade
  • Fully covered under a one-year limited warranty

Some of the best deals customers won so far are:

Oct. 29, this 12-light $2,664 chandelier sold at only 3 cents and the winner paid a total of 23 cents including the cost of the 1 bid placed;

Oct. 29, this chandelier sold at $1.22 and the winner paid a total of $6.62 including the cost of the 27 bids placed; and

Oct. 27, this chandelier sold at 17 cents and the winner paid a total of 94 cents including the cost of the 4 bids placed.

It would be so exciting to get fantastic deals like this, and DealDash shoppers have the opportunity to do just that. I will be sure to have my eyes on this one, so I’ll see you there!

Amazing Technology

Sometimes when I shop on DealDash.com I look for some new amazing technology.

It’s difficult to keep up with the latest and greatest gadgets that are now available, but I know that DealDash often features items like this. Therefore, this is definitely a good place to shop if we are interested in shopping for high-tech items.

I am especially interested in anything that has to do with photography equipment, so I was excited to see the following item.

Digitizer Converter for 8mm and Super 8 Films

Did you see this digitizer converter for 8mm and Super 8 films? I used to take a lot of 8mm films. I’m glad I never discarded them because now they can be turned into ready-to-view MP4 files with the use of this new gadget. Best of all, even if we are not tech savvy, the extra-large viewing screen makes the entire process simple, quick and easy. We just load the old film onto the universal reel and follow the onscreen prompts. Our old movies will be saved onto any SD/SDHC card. We can also plug it directly into our big-screen TV to playback footage and reminisce about the good old days with other family members.

Who would have ever imagined that we would ever be able to get a digitizer converter for these films? This auction has a BIN of $400 so it might even be within our budget to Buy-It-Now and get all our bids back free if we do not win it. I was happy to see, however, that more auctions are coming up so we will have more opportunities to place bids in this auction.

This digitizer converter would actually make a wonderful birthday, anniversary or Christmas gift, too, so future generations can have a look back into our family history.

Just today, Oct. 20, this digitizer converter sold at $5.82 and the winner paid a total of only $16.02 including the cost of the 51 bids placed.

So far, there are no customer reviews, but we can see more specific information by going to the auction and reading the detailed description.

A Brief History of Super 8mm Film

The 16mm camera came out in 1923. The oldest standard 8mm film was released to the market in 1932.

Most magnetic tapes, 8mm and VHS, have 10 to 20 percent signal loss after 10 to 25 years. In ideal conditions, however, 8mm film lasts around 70 years.

Super 8mm film became popular in 1965, and was officially discontinued by a major company in 1992. However, it was still available through a private manufacturer until 2011.

If anyone wants to preserve old super 8mm movie film, the sooner, the better.

Perhaps all you need is the technology to do it, and by shopping on DealDash we can now get what we need.

New DealDash Icon

Did you see the latest new icon on DealDash.com?

I must admit that some of the DealDash icons add a lot of variety and interest to this fun new way of shopping.

Each symbol provides specific information regarding each individual auction. DealDash has clearly marked the auctions and makes it very easy for us to know what rules apply. Before placing our bids, we need to pay attention to any and all of the icons located in the upper left corner of each auction.

Early Bird Auctions

One of the latest new icons on DealDash is called the “Early Bird Auction.” It is identified with a round gold circle with a dove in the center.

Wherever we see this auction, it does not allow us to start placing our bids early in the automated bidder, BidBuddy. The “Early Bird Auction” requires all shoppers interested in participating in the auction to wait until the last 10 seconds before the auction is actively open before we are allowed to place our first bid. In other words, we must be an early bird shopper and be ready to place our bids within the last 10 seconds before the auction opens, but not before then.

So far, “Early Bird Auctions appear to be fairly popular with lots of participation.

Let’s take a look at some of the other icons on DealDash, too.

No Exchange Auctions

Did you see the round red circle icon with reversed round white arrows inside the circle on the top and bottom?  This means that if we win the auction we will not have the option of exchanging it for bids.

Some shoppers might only place bids on products they think will close early just so they can exchange it for a lot of free bids instead. If we shop for free bids instead of the product, we must pay attention to this icon.

No Re-entry Auctions

Did you see the round purple icon symbol with the fist inside? If you want to know what it stands for all you have to do is click on it and an explanation will appear. The first time I saw this icon, I did not completely understand how it worked because it states that once we leave the auction, we cannot get back in.

Actually, we can temporarily leave this auction before it reaches the “No New Bidders” limit. However, we must return to actively place more bids again by the time the auction approaches the “No New Bidders” limit. If we’re too late, we’re out and blocked from participating.

10-Bid Auctions

Did you see the round green circle icon with a money bag and the number 10 in the middle?  This icon takes us to a whole new level of competition, but shoppers with a huge supply of bids might like it.

One thing remains the same. Each time we bid, the price of the auction still only goes up by one penny. However, each time we place a bid, 10 bids will be deducted from our account instead of one. In other words, if we have 100 bids in our account, we will only be able to bid 10 times before we completely run out of bids.

Runner-up Discounts

Did you see the round purple icon symbol that looks like a ring with the number “2” in the middle? This means that the runner-up to the winner (the shopper who comes in second place) will receive a discount if the runner-up decides to do a BIN (Buy-It-Now).

For example, when the auction closes, if the BIN is $200 the first-runner-up might be offered a discount of 50 percent. That means the first runner-up could do a BIN for $100 instead of $200. But we must pay close attention because the discount is not always the same. It varies and could be more or less.

Popular Auctions on DealDash

Some auctions on DealDash.com are more popular than others.

I decided to look for a few of the most popular auctions to find out what the winners like most about them.

Let’s take a look at some of these auctions.

Solar-powered Pathway Lights

Did you see the set of 8 color-changing solar-powered pathway lights? They come in packs of 4 each and the winner receives two packs to make a total of 8.

Some previous winners love these lights so much that they plan to order more. One customer wrote, “These are the best solar lights I’ve ever owned in my life. I will be buying more and more and more.” In fact, after 58 reviews by previous winners, these solar-powered lights received an overall rating of 4.94 out of a possible 5.0. Only the best auction products receive such a high rating.

These lights made with waterproof plastic can be used along any outdoor space such as stairs, gardens and lawns, and are durable enough to be used season after season. They automatically turn on at night and automatically shut off during the day.  According to the DealDash description, they feature both solid white and multi-color auto changing light modes.

The solar-powered 1200 mAh rechargeable batteries can emit a total of 80 lumens. The dimensions are 4.6-inches in diameter by 1-inch in height. It has a 2.4-inch by 2.4-inch solar panel, which takes 6 to 8 hours to charge and can stay on from 8 to 10 hours.

These solar-powered lights have a BIN of $120. So far some of the best deal previous winners received are:

  • Oct. 11, these solar-powered pathway lights sold at $1.16 and the winner paid a total of $3.76 including the cost of the 13 bids placed;
  • Oct. 9, these lights sold at only 68 cents and the winner paid a total of $3.08 including the cost of the 12 bids placed; and
  • Sept. 27, these solar-powered lights sold at 4 cents and the winner paid a total of only 24 cents including the cost of the 1 bid placed.

Perhaps I will see you in this auction.

Pool Shorts

If you would like to get a bargain price on some high-quality pool shorts, DealDash has the perfect auction for you.

This set of two pool shorts, has a BIN of $110. However, out of the last 33 auctions, this set of two pool shorts sold 23 times at less than $2.00. That’s amazing. In other words, most of the previous winners got a fantastic deal. These pool shorts have an awesome design, too. I really like the pair with the mermaids on them. Out of 23 customer reviews, these pool shorts received an overall rating of 4.95 out of a possible 5.0 and that’s really good.

These men’s pool shorts have a stretch waistline with adjustable draw strings, but it’s important to refer to the size chart to ensure you get the right waist size. It’s also important to read the washing guidelines. Do not dry clean. These pool shorts are machine washable in cold water with like colors, but do not use bleach and do not tumble dry. Hang dry them instead.

It’s amazing what super great deals we can get on DealDash. All we have to do is make sure we shop in the right auction at the right time.
