When I first started shopping on DealDash.com Feb. 8, 2012, it was still a fairly new company. Some systems that were in place then, are no longer in place now.

One thing that changed most are the win limits that DealDash once had. All customers had weekly and monthly win limits. Back then, I think each customer was allowed to win up to about seven auctions per week — four auctions with a retail value of $199 or less, and three auctions with a retail value of $200 or more. Once we already won our weekly limits, we would get locked out until our win limits were reset again the next week or the next month.

Of course, as the company grew, DealDash kept basic things about the shopping site that still worked well, but made a lot of changes that worked better for both the company and its growing number of customers. When the old win limits were eliminated they were soon replaced with new win limits for which I am very grateful.

Today’s Win Limits

Let’s take a look at the win limits that are now in place.

Monthly winning limit

Whenever we open most of the auctions we can see a list of winners who are not allowed to win that same auction again over the next 30 days. When the 30 days are up, then they can bid on and win that auction again. I love this win limit policy because this also gives other shoppers a better opportunity to win more auctions once the power shoppers have already been locked out.

One-per-user auctions

If we look at the DealDash home page, we will also notice that many auctions have a little yellow No. 1 in the upper right hand corner. This also indicates another win limit that is now in place. If we click on the yellow No. 1, a message pops up saying, “You may only win this product once.”  That win limit mainly shows up on the high-dollar products, on large bid packs and on items like special bid packages that will only be listed for a specified amount of time.

By implementing these win limits even someone on a limited budget has the opportunity to win auctions, instead of just a handful ow power shoppers with a “seemingly” unlimited number of bids. I, for one, appreciate DealDash for “playing” fair. All of these win limit policies are, of course, geared toward maintaining the core values and goals of DealDash when it first started – being one of the most fair and honest shopping sites online.

Most people I know were glad to see the old year 2020 leave because it certainly was filled with many challenges. Let us hope that 2021 brings much more joy and prosperity and far less sorrow and pain.

This week we got introduced to the “America let’s go!” United States bid packs. I enjoy reading the fun facts about each one because I am a lifetime learner so I love to learn while I shop.

According to information provided by the DealDash support team, here are three examples:

• 50 Bids = the founding of the United States, there have been 27 versions of the American flag. Each new flag represented the addition of new states. Today, the American flag displays 50 stars that represent the 50 states that make up the US.
• 300 Bids = annually, around 300 billion pizzas are sold in the United States and a reported 93 percent of Americans have eaten pizza within the past month.
• 630 Bids = The Gateway Arch, also known as the “Gateway to the West,” is a monument in St. Louis, Missouri and sits alongside the West bank of the Mississippi River. At 630 feet tall, the Gateway Arch claims the title of the tallest man-made monument in the US.
• 1,871 Bids = The United States has maintained its position of being the world’s largest economy since 1871.
• 10,000 Bids = Two fun-facts I like most is knowing the US is home to the post powerful military the world has ever seen; and the US is the most generous country in the world. US citizens give more to charity every year than any other country.

Not only do Americans give most because they are the richest, but as percentage of income they give the most, too.

I’m also glad these bid packs are limited to one-per-user because that means more of us will have the opportunity to win. It’s a good idea to spread the winnings around to keep every shopper happy, right?

What about new products that have already caught my attention. Let us take a look:

Anyone who loves hiking on great outdoor trails would love these boots.

A recent addition to the DealDash catalog is a long sleeve shirt (with a BIN price of $149.00) features a special NB Dry fabric to keep a person dry and comfortable, even if training in rain or snow.

I have seven brothers who all love fishing in Minnesota, but in winter months they are limited to ice fishing. I know this item is fairly new becaus

e it only has five reviews but they are all-star reviews so it must work to get such high ratings from customers who have already won or ordered it by making a BIN purchase .

On New Year 2020 DealDash.com offered a special promotion where the price of won auctions was 90 percent off the final auction price. That was combined with 4X multiplier on the clock, so it was an awesome day to shop.

The only downside to that exciting double special is that it attracted a large number of shoppers. Therefore, the competition was rather stiff. When the competition gets tough we can still win … if we get smart and play smart. Therefore, I’m going to write about various “steps to winning.”

Did you know there are more “steps to winning” on DealDash than simply clicking a bid button and/or placing bids into the automated bidder, BidBuddy?

Any DealDash shopper who is serious about winning auctions usually has to know more about taking the proper “steps to winning” to really be competitive enough to win during heavy competition.

Step 1 – What we know (and don’t know)

Before placing our bids, we should consider what we don’t know from what we do know.

What we don’t know:

• We don’t know how many total bids other shoppers bought and have in their accounts; and
• We don’t know how many high-dollar auctions other shoppers exchanged for bids.

What we do know (or can find out by looking at the data included in the auctions):

• We know what screen names recently won a large bid pack (or two or three) by checking the “Winners” list and writing down those screen names;
• We know the screen names of shoppers who recently won several high-dollar auctions (that they could have exchanged for a large number of bids);
• We know the number of bids previous winners used to win the auctions;
• We know the screen names of shoppers who consistently over-bid the value of the auction (and, therefore, we would not want to compete in the same auctions); and
• We know how many bids we have in our own account.

Today I am writing about a BidBuddy anomaly – something that rarely happens but it’s still something that serious DealDash.com shoppers may want to know. A quick note: this is something perfectly normal but good for you to be aware of. Just be quick to place your first bid before no new bidders can join the auction!

Did you notice the recent auction that offered 350 bids plus an $800 Walmart gift card? I already knew that it would probably take a large number of bids to win a popular auction like that and I also knew that it might not close for a long time. Therefore, I put my usual plan of action into play, but I wasn’t counting on a BidBuddy anomaly that never before happened to me. Let me explain.

I put first things first. Of course, that meant that I did not want to be locked out of that auction. Since it had several hours to go before that auction would become available for live auction, I did what I always do. I placed some bids into the automated bidder, BidBuddy, ahead of time, feeling confident that auction would still be going strong when I woke up the next morning.

Sure enough, that auction was active and still going strong the next morning, but you can imagine my surprise when I learned I was locked out and did not qualify to take part in that auction.

Not a single one of the bids I placed in BidBuddy several hours before that auction went live had kicked in or were placed for me. Instead those bids were added back into the balance of my account.
