Book Lover’s Delight

Do you have any friends or family members who are avid readers and book lovers? If so, you might want to look for my new book on DealDash.com – “That’s Life: In Poetry and Short Stories.” It is sure to become a book lover’s delight.

The cover of ''That's Life'', by Barbara Sellers.
That’s Life makes a great gift for any reader on your gift list.

Perhaps you are already a fan after reading my first book, “Get Tough or Die: Why I Forgave My Parents for My Abusive Childhood.” That was a very difficult subject to write about and also difficult subject for some readers to handle. In spite of the tough subject matter, 189 DealDash customers gave that book an overall rating of 4.91 out of a possible 5.0.

If you liked that book, you will probably like “That’s Life In Poetry and Short Stories” even more. The first half of the book is poetry and the second half has 10 of my short stories and one short story by a guest writer. Like my first book, I included several photos.

Poems

The poems in my book are divided into various categories according to subject matter. For instance, I have love poems, religious poems, family poems and poems about the seasons, character sketches and life in general called “That’s Life.”  Therefore, you might say I included poems for all occasions.

Some of the poems are humorous and some are serious, but all of the poems are easy to understand and enjoy.

Short stories

Nine of the 10 short stories I included in my book are true. They are The Forbidden Rock, Orgie the Friendly Bull, A Special Kind of Lipstick, Risky Dating, Calling Long Distance, Microphone Dilemma, The Power of Prayers, Missed Opportunities and Real Crazy Job Experiences. My short story called Another Life, Another time is fiction. These short stories are a mixture of humor and serious subject matter.

I also got permission to include a short story by my guest writer titled, Mrs. Whatchamacallit, by Ret. Lt. Col. Don Sellers.

The bottom line

Perhaps you missed the first two times my new book “That’s Life In Poetry and Short Stories” went up for auction and both winners received an awesome bargain. Perhaps the next bargain could be yours.

Happy reading everyone!

Early Christmas Shopping

It’s not too early to do some early Christmas shopping and DealDash.com is a good place to start.

A boy sits at a dining table and wraps Christmas presents.
It might only be September, but it’s never too early to start getting ready for Christmas!

If you are looking for a unique gift, DealDash has plenty of products that might interest you. Let’s take a look at some of them!

Stainless steel hip flask

If you are looking for a high-quality product that comes in a fancy box, perhaps you could check out the stainless steel hip flask. It’s not something everybody has but it might be something some people would really like to have.

This name brand product has a BIN of $375.00 but several winners have already won it at bargain prices and this might be an auction we could win at a bargain price, too. Check this out:

  • Aug. 15, this auction sold at 37 cents and the winner paid a total of $2.18 including the cost of the 10 bids placed;
  • Aug. 11, this auction sold at 67 cents and the winner paid a total of $4.67 including the cost of the 23 bids placed;
  • Aug. 7, this auction sold at 69 cents and the winner paid a total of $5.74 including the cost of the 27 bids placed.

So far, this product received a total of four customer reviews and has received an overall rating of 5.0 out of a possible 5.0. In other words, this rating cannot be beat because it doesn’t get any better than that.

Champagne flutes

Another auction product that comes in a fancy box and would make an awesome holiday gift would be this set of two champagne flutes.

These champagne flutes have a BIN of $320 but some winners have already won them at an amazing bargain price. Talk about getting a fantastic deal, check this out:

Shopping Tips

I’ve been shopping on DealDash.com for more than 10 years, and I’d like to share some shopping tips that could help new shoppers.

A happy shopper smiles and holds up her shopping bags.
Keep these tips in mind to bring your shopping to the next level.

We all want to experience the fireworks thrill of winning auctions. If you follow the tips below, you will improve your opportunities to win.

  1. Limit Your Competition
  2. Use the Winners List
  3. Avoid Over Bidders
  4. Shop Different Days and Different Times
  5. Find Easy-to-Win Auctions

Limit your competition

We have a couple different ways to limit our competition. Perhaps the best way is to open several auctions and look for the ones with the fewest number of qualified and/or active shoppers. The fewer the number of shoppers the better it is for us. I try to find auctions that have 10 participants or less or no more than 30 qualified shoppers. Of course, we must get our first bid in before we know how many shoppers will participate. DealDash often helps to eliminate our competition by offering a lower “No New Bidders” limit. This past week, DealDash even locked out all new bidders after the bidding reached $1.50. That was incredible!

Use the winners list

I use the Winners List several different ways, too. New shoppers might not yet know who the power shoppers with an endless supply of bids are. However, if we look at the list of winners, we can easily find out. All we have to do is write down all of the screen names of everyone who has won three auctions or more in the last eight hours. These are the power bidders that new shoppers might not want to compete with in the same auctions.

Avoid over bidders

New shoppers with a limited number of bids might want to avoid competing in the same auctions with shoppers who have a track record of frequently overbidding. We can quickly identify over-bidders if we look at past winners of each individual auction and write down the screen names of all of winners who overbid.

For example, I just saw an auction with a BIN of $60 and one of the past winners paid more than $250 including the cost of placing more than 1,000 bids to win that auction. It is not a good idea to compete with screen names that have a track record of overbidding.

Shop different days and different times

Sometimes we can win more auctions simply by changing the days and times of day that we shop. DealDash has high-traffic times and low-traffic times. The key is to discover and shop during the low-traffic times.

Find easy-to-win auctions

The easy-to-win auctions can change from day-to-day or from week-to-week. To win more auctions, it’s important to look for trends. We can do this by checking out the most recent “featured winners” on the Winners List. I also often write blogs here highlighting auction products that are consistently selling for the least amount.

The bottom line

Any shopper, even new and inexperienced shoppers, could win more awesome deals on DealDash by following these “winning tips.”

Fall Weather Shopping

It’s that time of year again when we might have to do some shopping for some fall weather clothing, and DealDash.com offers some items that we might need.

Two friends hold up their new fall clothes while walking down a path of leaves.
It’s time to fall into Autumn by shopping for some new clothes.

Let’s take a look at some auctions to help prepare for cool weather.

Reversable water-resistant down jacket

Did you see the reversible water-resistant down jacket that DealDash has up for auction?  So far, after 39 customer reviews, this jacket has received an overall rating of 4.85 out of a possible 5.0, which says a lot about customer satisfaction.

Fall is just around the corner so it won’t be long before we will see some cool weather. This high-quality jacket could make a perfect gift for your son or grandson in high school or college.

Best of all, this reversible jacket can be turned inside out and worn on the red side or be worn on the navy blue side.

According to the auction description, “the shell is made from a durable and breathable 75D polyester fabric with a rainproof finish that repels water …”  It is insulated with “90 percent down and 10 percent feather,” which will keep the wearer warm and dry. The draw cord hood can be adjusted to keep cold winds out. This jacket features two deep exterior side-entry pockets to keep your hands warm, too. Its hip-length cut makes it plenty long, too.

Before bidding, please check the size chart to ensure that you are getting the right size. The small fits a chest size of 36 to 37 inches, the medium fits 38 to 40 inches, the large fits 41 to 43 inches, the extra-large fits 44 to 46 inches and the extra-extra-large fits 47 to 49 inches.

Long sleeve shirt

This long-sleeve men’s shirt, size small, after 19 customer reviews, got an overall excellent rating of 4.89 out of a possible 5.0.

It features a NB Dry fabric to help you stay dry and comfortable, regardless of weather.

Washing instructions says to machine wash in cold water, separate from other dark colors and “do not use bleach.” Remove promptly after wash and tumble dry on low.

This shirt has a BIN of $149.00 but some customers have already won bargain prices. For example:

  • Aug. 10 this shirt sold at 14 cents. The winner paid a total of 87 cents, including the cost of the 4 bids placed;
  • Aug. 21 this shirt sold at $1.01. The winner paid a total of $1.41 including the cost of the 4 bids placed;
  • Aug. 23, this shirt sold at 48 cents. The winner paid a total of $4.45 including the cost of the 22 bids placed.

It you want an opportunity to win a high-quality shirt at a bargain price, you cannot beat prices like this.

Men’s leather gloves

When the weather gets cold, every man could use a good pair of leather gloves and they would make an excellent Christmas gift, which is not too far away.

These soft leather gloves have a BIN of $350.00 but several customers have already won fantastic deals. For example:

  • Aug. 12 these leather gloves sold at 5 cents. The winner paid a total of only 22 cents including the cost of the 1 bid placed;
  • Aug. 18 these gloves sold at $1.06. The winner paid a total of $3.93 including the cost of the 17 bids placed;
  • Aug. 24 these gloves sold at 54 cents. The winner paid a total of $2.78 including the cost of the 12 bids placed.

Nobody can ever beat prices like that for a pair of high-quality leather gloves.

Some previous winners caution shoppers to see the auction description to check the sizes because these gloves run small. A few of them suggested getting one size up.

Happy shopping everyone!
