What Can We Do With 100 Bids?

What can we do with 100 bids when shopping on DealDash.com? We could probably do a lot more than we might think with that many bids?

Here is what we could do with 100 bids:

  • Place one bid each in 100 auctions
  • Place two bids each in 50 auctions
  • Place three bids each in 33 auctions
  • Place five bids each in 20 auctions
  • Place 10 bids each in 10 auctions
  • Place 25 bids each in four auctions
  • Place 50 bids each in two auctions
  • Place all 100 bids in one auction.

DealDash customers win auctions every day using only one or two bids. In just the last 24 hours here are just some of the auctions shoppers won using only one or two bids:

  • Women’s lambskin moto jacket (Buy It Now price $3,400) sold for only 9 cents, and the winner used 2 bids for a total estimated investment of 44 cents
  • Perfume (BIN $230) sold for only 2 cents, and the winner used 1 bid for a total estimated investment of 21 cents
  • Ring, size 6 (BIN $175), sold for 1 cent, and the winner used 1 bid for a total investment of 21 cents
  • King duvet (BIN $180) cover sold for 3 cents, and the winner used 1 bid for a total investment of 21 cents
  • Stainless steel saucepan with lid (BIN $650) sold for 39 cents, and the winner used 3 bids for a total investment of 79 cents.

If we placed one bid in 100 auctions or two bids in 50 auctions, we might have won some of the above awesome auction products. After all, becoming a winning shopper often depends on simply being in the right auction at the right time.

Flexible Shoppers

Are you a flexible shopper on DealDash.com?

What do I mean by that and why does it matter? Good questions.

When flexible shoppers open the DealDash home page, they are usually open to placing bids on anything that looks like it might close at a bargain price. Flexible shoppers may also end up winning more auctions for the following reasons:

  • They can choose to only bid in auctions with the fewest number of competitors.
  • They can choose to only bid in auctions that have no power bidders.
  • They can choose to only bid in auctions that show they are closing for the fewest number of bids and the lowest selling price.

Let’s look at a few examples:

A knitted pillow with a Buy It Now price of $109 closed on 12/2/2018 at only 18 cents and 5 bids; and again on 12/4/2018 it closed at 36 cents and 11 bids. When this auction reached the $5 “No New Bidders” mark, it only had 23 competitors, so it appeared to be an easy win.

A high-end quality pen set with a Buy It Now price of $360 closed on 12/7 for 9 cents and only 2 bids; and again on the same day for $1.73 and 15 bids. When this auction reached the $5 “No New Bidders” mark, it only had 33 competitors, so it appeared to be another easy win.

A beautiful, high-end blue and white silk necktie with a Buy It Now price of $280 closed on 12/2/2018 for only 22 cents and 6 bids; and on 12/5/2018 it closed for $2.42 and 32 bids. When this auction reached the $5 “No New Bidders” mark, it only had 16 competitors, so it also appeared to be an easy win.

Flexible bidders are free to choose the auctions they feel make sense bidding on. If you are a flexible shopper, go for it!

Elusive Win No More

I won! I won! I finally won the elusive lambskin moto jacket! Now it is elusive no more.

Did you ever want to win a particular product on DealDash.com that appeared to be like an elusive butterfly? Well this auction was my elusive butterfly.

No matter how often I tried and no matter how many bids I placed, it appeared that I would never win this lambskin moto jacket. I even placed as much as 2,114 bids in one auction and still did not win.

After investing a total of 4,400 bids 44 different times in the same auction (from Oct. 14 to Dec. 8) I finally won. The auction closed at $22.63 and this time I placed a total of 464 bids.

What made the winning difference? I can narrow it down to three things:

  • This auction was limited to only one per user and the power bidders already won it, so they were eliminated.
  • “No New Bidders” when the auction reached $3 were allowed. That left only 28 competitors, which might have been more if it closed to new bidders at $5 instead.
  • Consistency — I continued to bid every time this item came up for auction. The first time it closed early, I got busy and failed to add more bids or I might have won sooner.

Two lessons I learned from this bidding experiment are:

  • In my experience, it’s better to place 500 bids four times than 2,000 bids one time. If you do this, you might win sooner, and when you do win, the closing cost will be much lower.
  • It’s important to be consistent and not get distracted by other things.

If you do this, you might be able to catch your elusive butterfly. For me, the lambskin moto jacket was my elusive butterfly, but it is elusive no more!
