If you want some fun and excitement while you’re shopping online, then DealDash is the place to be! They are open 24/7, 365 days per year. Yup, they are even open on Christmas day for your bidding enjoyment. Read on for information about a new DealDash special feature.

Mystery Auctions

Mystery auctions are a brand new feature that I have not seen on DealDash before. How they work is simple to understand, though. When you sign into your account, if there is a mystery auction starting soon, you will see the picture to the above right – a purple rectangle with a question mark. It will also have a timer. The timer indicates when the mystery auction will be revealed so you can see what is up for bid. You cannot open up the auction or place any bids into the BidBuddy before the auction is revealed. After the mystery auction has been revealed it will be open for bidding 5 minutes later.

The nice thing about a mystery auction, and why this is such an exciting new feature is because you can only join the auction if you’re currently online. Since you can’t pre-book your BidBuddy, you have to wait patiently for the auction to be revealed. This way, there will be less competition for the item. In the case above, the mystery item was a $100 Wal*Mart gift card. This is a very hot auction item that typically ends with a fairly high final auction value. However, since you had to currently be online to see it and bid on it, the competition was significantly less, as you can see from the picture below.

DealDash

As you can see, there are less than 30 people bidding in this auction. That is a far cry from the typical 100 or so that would be vying for this awesomely popular gift card. In short, the new mystery auction feature will give you an even better chance of getting an amazing deal on DealDash.

Tips to Deal With Not Always Winning

DealDash

Unfortunately, we don’t always win every auction. Here are some tips to get you “back in the saddle” for winning another auction.

The old adage is “you can’t win them all”, and that is true in life as well as DealDash. But there are hundreds of auctions every day on DealDash, so there are tons of chances for you to win. Here are some tips and tricks from the DealDash Tips Blog to get you back on track to winning more auctions.

Explore Your Possibilities

When you’re on DealDash it’s important to explore the different auctions. Expand your mind and explore all of the different categories and items that are up for auction. There are currently 9 categories on DealDash, and this is something that changes occasionally as DealDash expands and changes things around on the site. Here are the categories that are currently offered:

  1. New Items
  2. Bid Packs
  3. Bundles
  4. Electronics & Computers
  5. Fashion, Health, and Beauty
  6. Gift Cards
  7. Hobbies, Toys, Outdoors, and Games
  8. Home, Garden, and Tools
  9. Kitchen and Dining

No matter what kind of items that you are interested in winning, you’ll be able to find something that you’re interested in on DealDash. However, if you’ve been trying to win a particular item with no success, take a break! Bid on something else, try a different category. Explore and educate yourself on all of the different categories.

Take a Peek Into the Past

If you’ve been having trouble winning an auction, then check out some of the items that you won previously. What kinds of items were they? What time of day were you bidding? Was it on a holiday or a particular day of the week? See if you can spot some similarities in your previous wins and try to replicate them again and see if you can snag yourself another win.

Having previous wins is a great way to try and repeat your success, but if you are a new bidder and don’t have very many wins to compare, then you can always check out the “Winner’s Tab” on DealDash. Just navigate to the main page, and click the tab at the top that says “Winners”. This will take you to all of the wins on DealDash, starting with the most recent. You can scroll back indefinitely (as far as I know), once I scrolled back to the previous day. It’s really an invaluable source of information to take advantage of that DealDash offers anyone who cares to look.

BIN if You Don’t Win

If you are planning on purchasing any of the items that you are bidding on in a DealDash auction, then you’re a great candidate to do a BIN (Buy It Now) if you don’t win. DealDash offers the BIN on all auctions on the website. To complete a BIN, just pay retail price for the item and you will receive all of your bids back. You’ll receive your item, all of your bids back, and get to keep the clock time that you accrued while bidding, as well.

How I Finally Won My First Painting on DealDash!

Ok, bidders—after over two years, I finally won my first big-ticket painting on DealDash! I can tell you it was no easy task but one that I would love to share with you. If you feel you’re stuck in the rut of winning smaller items on DealDash, these tips might just make winning that next mid- to big-ticket item possible.

  1. Know the Competition

No, this doesn’t mean invite them over to grill them for all their bidding and winning secrets, though that would be fun, wouldn’t it? Simply put, there are experienced bidders who know the ins and outs of winning items.  Make sure you remember them.

  1. Utilize the Winners Tab

I bring up the Winners Tab before I even browse the auctions. It’s the first thing I do. Why? Because I want to know who has been winning the big-ticket items recently. A common thought would be that if you won a painting recently, you will try for another…and another. By having the Winners Tab up, you can also search your competitors’ names while you are in an auction with them to see if they have recent wins.

  1. Don’t Retreat

Just because someone recently won a big-ticket item and they are trying for another doesn’t necessarily mean they will win again. There are many reasons for a bidder to back out of an auction and most bidders don’t have an unlimited supply or aren’t willing to invest everything they have. Be willing to stay in an auction at least for a certain number of bids just in case.

  1. Be Patient

It’s easy to say to yourself, “Oh, I’ll just remove my bids and watch the auction and jump back in.” However, on more times than I can tell you, I have done just this and the bidders go from ten to one in a blink of an eye and you’ve lost your chance. Hang in there!

  1. Use BidBuddy and Walk Away

Watching my auctions is a habit of mine but during big-ticket auctions, I prefer to set my BidBuddy and walk away…at least for a little while. It’s too tempting to hold back on bidding and in auctions you just never know what the competition is going to do. I have seen many times where items have been won with just one or two bids because the other bidders (and many of them) placed just one bid to secure a spot in the auction with the hopes of saving bids and re-joining the auction later. This is not always the best strategy.

  1. Consider Your Exchange to Bid Options

I had always wanted to win a painting. They are expensive items and surely must generate a hefty “exchange to bids” benefit, right? Don’t be surprised if that’s not quite the case. With my own win, I won a painting worth over $2000 and when I won it (after spending about 200 bids), I quickly realized the exchange to bids offer was only 500 bids. Yes, of course I took the bids, but the lesson was not to count your bids before they are exchanged to bids!

  1. My Best Advice

When it comes to paintings and other big-ticket items, my best advice is to find an item you would really love to win and receive, do your homework and get bidding. You simply can’t win if you don’t bid!

I had to take many chances on bidding until I finally won a painting and I was very proud of myself when I finally won. Now I can take these strategies into other auctions and win again! I hope this has been helpful and I hope you win big really soon!

Know Your Fellow Bidders from February 5th’s Blog

The blog on February 5th was about getting the best score on DealDash. There were a few good tips in there, but the tip to remember from that blog was to pay close attention to your fellow bidders. Keep track of the ones that you see often and observe their bidding habits. From that blog:

“You don’t have to get to know all of the millions of bidders on DealDash, but if you pay close attention you will see the same bidders over and over again, especially if you participate in a particular category on a regular basis. ”

Choosing a Chair from February 6th’s Blog

February 6th’s blog was all about the different types of chairs available for auction on DealDash. The chairs that were listed in the article are all high-quality, and all up for bid on DealDash. My favorite type of chair that was mentioned in the massage chair! How about you? From the blog written by Theresa:

“With five pre-set menu options, this chair can focus on deep tissue massage, loosening muscles, full-body massage, upper body or lower body with shaitsu, knead and flap, flap, knead or knock techniques.”

Important Tips from the February 7th’s Blog

There was a lot of information for new bidders in the February 7th blog. There are lots of great tips that a DealDash bidder should know. This list, however, is very important to remember if you’re having a “bad bidding day”:

  • Try a different category
  • Take a break and come back later on
  • Do some research on products instead of bidding
  • Read the DealDash Tips Blog and get some ideas
