DealDash Tips to Bid Friendly

DealDash Tips Bid Friendly

DealDash is a friendly place. You don’t need to be the other bidder’s best friend – but it is important that you bid friendly.

Bidding friendly can mean different things to different people, but we’ll just stick with the basics here. Everyone on DealDash is encouraged to be polite and be friendly with the other bidders because we are all one big community. Yes, that community is HUGE, but it’s still a community, and you will run across other bidders frequently, especially if you typically stick to the same bidding categories. Here are some tips for bidding friendly on DealDash.

Start Off Nicely

You’ll want to put your best (polite) foot forward when bidding on DealDash. So be sure that when you register that you pick a friendly or neutral name to be your bidding “handle”. Don’t pick something mean, frightening, or intimidating. This is also the case with your bidder’s bio and your avatar picture. Make sure that all of these things are nice, polite, or neutral. This is a family website, and I know from experience that kids often peer over the grown-up’s shoulders when they are bidding. Please don’t put up any frightening or scary pictures or bidder’s bios. It’s just not nice!

Don’t Be a “Stomper” or a “Jumper”

“Stompers” and “Jumpers” are considered very rude, and definitely not nice. Who in the world are Stompers and Jumpers? When the Stomper bids in an auction, they bid immediately after a person. This is rather rude, most people wait until there are about 2 seconds or so to go – and so does the BidBuddy. The reason that this is considered rude is because this cheats the other people out of their “clock time.”  The Jumper is a bidder who waits until the auction has just about reached the $5 No Jumper limit and places their first bid – it’s especially rude if there are only 2 or 3 people left in the auction. This is rude because the people who have been bidding in the auction all along have used up lots of

The Jumper is a bidder who waits until the auction has just about reached the $5 No Jumper limit and places their first bid – it’s especially rude if there are only 2 or 3 people left in the auction. This is rude because the people who have been bidding in the auction all along have used up lots of bids, and feel that one of them should be the winner instead of someone new who has nothing invested in winning the auction.

Try Not to Get into Stomping Wars

Getting into a stomping war is kind of like being a Stomper times ten. A stomping war is when two people are bidding against each other, and one of them decides that they want the auction to hurry up and finish. They then proceed to stomp on their opponent over and over again. This will work out for them if their opponent is using a BidBuddy and not paying attention, however,  many people who use the BidBuddy (me included!) watch the auctions anyway to monitor how quickly my bids are being used up. If your opponent is watching when you start stomping all over their BidBuddy, well, you’re about to have a stomping war on your hands. Try to avoid this, it really isn’t nice.

DealDash Picture-Taking Tips

Canon Black PowerShot SX60 HS Digital Camera with 16.1 Megapixels and 65x Optical Zoom

Do you take pictures of your DealDash wins? You should, you can win 1,000 bids from DealDash in the weekly Facebook contest.

Every week DealDash has a Facebook photo contest to win 1,000 bids. Isn’t that cool? DealDash loves their customers and wants to give them the equivalent of $150 in free bids! If you take great pictures, then you’re more likely to win – it IS a photo contest, after all.

Close-Ups Are Great

If you have won an item that’s on the smaller side, then maybe a close-up is the way to go. For example, if you win a ring, then put it on your finger and hold up your hand to your face. Then get a close-up with your camera. Or if you have won a necklace, then put that beautiful thing on! Then take a close-up of yourself with your necklace.

Take Your Pics Outdoors

Having natural and bright light for your photos will make your pictures even better than you imagined. The bright Spring and Summer sun will highlight your DealDash win better than any indoor lighting – unless you own a photography studio, of course. The sun is your friend when it comes to taking the best photos around. Good photos = Facebook contest wins!

Make Sure You’re in it!

Part of the fun of the DealDash photo contest is to showcase the bidder as well as the win. So make sure that you’re in the photo with your win. I know, I know, some people are camera shy, but if you want to win the contest then you’re going to need to put aside your bashfulness and get into that photo.

After you have taken your photo of yourself with your win navigate to the DealDash Facebook page which is here, and “Like” it. Then you can post your picture to get free bids. Here are the instructions from DealDash detailing the instructions how to get free bids from Facebook:

1. Select an item you have won on DealDash to feature in the photo.

2. Take a high-quality photo clearly showing yourself and the item you won.

3. Send your best-looking photo to [email protected] and add a description which should include the following information: the item name, retail price, how much you paid for the item and a personal comment about the win as well. For example: “I got this $879 flatware set on@DealDash. I paid just $9.02 and used 109 bids! Thanks DealDash, they look nice in my kitchen”

4. In the end of the caption, please include the following sentence and the link (See the picture below):

DealDash Tips for Confident Bidding

dealdash

Confidence is a great trait to have. Here are some tips from DealDash on becoming a confident bidder.

There’s a difference between being a confident bidder and being a shy or timid bidder. A confident bidder goes into every auction hoping to win but preparing to lose, and has a game plan to get their bids back. A shy or timid bidder just throws in a few bids here and there and hopes that they win. Confidence is important to have in life as well as when participating in DealDash auctions. Here are some tips and tricks from DealDash to get you started on your way to confident bidding.

Show The Room Who’s Boss

When you enter into a DealDash auction do you just put in one bid and then sit there and wait to see what happens? While you can do that, I find that putting multiple bids into your BidBuddy is a better strategy. When you put a number of bids into your BidBuddy then your BidBuddy can take its place in line with the other BidBuddies. When other bidders in the room see that your BidBuddy has been bidding in line with the other BidBuddies, then they know that you mean business, that you’re a confident bidder. No one fears a timid bidder who only bids once here and there. They know that you’ll be easy to beat.

Fill Out Your Bidder Bio with Confidence

Have you filled out your bidder bio yet? It’s the little blurb that you can write about yourself when you are filling out your bidder profile. Now, be nice and polite, but also be confident! Mean and nasty rude bidder bios are taken down, but you don’t have to be rude to get your point across that you’re a confident bidder who’s here to win some auctions.

Be Confident, There’s Always BIN

There’s no need to be a timid bidder. As long as you are bidding on things that you are willing to buy if you lose, then there’s nothing to be timid or shy about at all. There’s no need to be worried that you will lose all of your bids, because you can always get them back when you use the BIN (Buy It Now) feature on DealDash. The BIN feature lets otherwise timid and unsure bidders be confident in their risk-taking. DealDash is completely risk-free if you’re willing to BIN the item if you don’t win.
