My First Book Auction

Today was an exciting day for me. I got to see my first book go up for auction on DealDash.com.

After retiring as an award-winning journalist and writing more than 500 blogs for DealDash, I returned to a file of notes I kept for more than 50 years to write my own powerful story of survival:  Get Tough or Die: Why I Forgave My Parents for My Abusive Childhood.

I felt deeply honored when the founder of DealDash offered to add my book to be auctioned on DealDash. It is so exciting to now have my book available on DealDash, hot off the press, three months before it is scheduled to be released on Amazon Sept. 1. In other words, Get Tough or Die is so new that those who have already read advanced copies of my book are not yet allowed to post reviews. But here is a note I received today from a customer who just read my book:

(We) received your book today and DEVOURED it! Thank you for writing it! As soon as Amazon allows, I will give you a 5-star review.
    – Beth Rigoulet

This is a typical reaction to my book, nothing but rave reviews. Here are some short versions of a few more reviews I received:

I found this book very captivating and could not put it down once I started reading. It was brutally sad but also taught me some lessons to carry forward in my life. I enjoyed the book very much.
– Dawn Phillips

You are a fighter. I can’t believe you went through all that and came out such a positive person. I couldn’t stop reading your book once I had gotten started. I just finished it, and I’m still in mild shock. Thank you for writing this book.
    – William Wolfram

I really think this book is going to help people with their journey in life. This story is a captivating and very real look into the trauma’s surrounding domestic violence.
– James Rodgers

In her riveting book, Barbara clearly does not put her focus on her often, life-threatening plight as much as her unyielding determination, which inspires us all.
– Patricia Seger

What We Love About DealDash

As a long-time shopper on DealDash.com, I am reminded of some lines from one of Elizabeth Barrett Browning’s love sonnets: “How do I love thee, let me count the ways.”

Instead, I could say, “What do we love about shopping on DealDash? Let me count some of the ways DealDash stands out from other online shopping sites:

  • DealDash celebrated its 10th Anniversary this year, which makes it one of the longest-running shopping sites of its kind. That means this company has staying power and for some very good reasons, too.
  • DealDash always has free shipping and no additional charges or hidden fees. We always know exactly how much we have to pay.
  • Our orders arrive in excellent condition in a timely manner.
  • DealDash has an excellent automated bidder, Bid Buddy that makes shopping on DealDash easy for busy people.
  • DealDash gives everyone an opportunity to win some high-dollar products that we might otherwise not be able to buy.
  • DealDash continually introduces new and unique products that we might never see or read about anywhere else.
  • DealDash offers many special features that make shopping entertaining and fun.
  • If we do not win an auction, we can purchase the product at the Buy It Now price and get all our bids back free to use on another auction.

The above list includes some of the many reasons DealDash shoppers continue to shop on the site from year to year. Check it out.

Winning Made Easier

Guess what? DealDash.com has recently done something to make winning easier. Each bidder can no longer win the same item more than once every 30 days.

That may not be good news for “power bidders” who repeatedly win more than their fair share of items, but it certainly is good news for everyone else.

This means once a shopper has won an auction, that shopper will be locked out for 30 days from bidding on the same item again, and that will result in fewer potential bidders for the next auction (if within 30 days!)

Therefore, if you have been discouraged and have not been bidding on DealDash lately, now is a good time to go back and try again. With a good plan of action, we might be able to win the auctions we never won before.

Here is a good plan of action:

  • Write down the names of the power bidders who often win several items times a week.
  • Look for those names on the list of shoppers who already won the auction and are now blocked out for a full 30 days. If you see those screen names are on the winner’s list, you no longer have to worry about competing with them to win the auction, so now is a good time for you to place your bids and go for the win.
  • Place at least one bid early so you do not get blocked out from competing. When the bidding gets down to the last two or three bidders, place the bulk of your bids. Then monitor the auction closely.

Shopping on DealDash is now more exciting than ever. I’ll see you there!

Take Advantage of Sales

Do you know how many more bids you can get for your money when they go on sale?

Every once in a while, DealDash.com offers bid packs for as low as 11 cents per bid. When bid packs go on sale that is the time to purchase all of your bids for the whole month.

For its 10-year anniversary, DealDash has been offering all kinds of deals, making it easier than ever for us to win the auction of our dreams. In fact, I recently won an auction that I was never before able to win. Some ways DealDash makes winning easier are:

  • They designate certain times when they put several auctions on sale at the same time. That must drive the most active bidders crazy because they cannot bid on everything at once!
  • They sometimes cut off all new bidders at $3 instead of $5. By locking out all new bidders at $3 it eliminates some of the competition for all those who do get their bids in early.
  • They increased the number of “one per user” auctions, giving more customers an even playing field to win the auctions of their dreams. By implementing the “one-per-user” auctions, the power bidders are prevented from winning multiple high-dollar auctions once they have already won it. This gives the rest of us more opportunities to win auctions we never before won.

If you have not been shopping on DealDash for a while, now is a good time to return to the site to take advantage of these many opportunities, and check out the new auction items, too.
