Have a Blast, an Auction Blast

Did you ever participate in an “auction blast” on DealDash.com?

What do I mean by an “auction blast?” When DealDash has an “auction blast” event, it means they have a large number of a specific auction item and open the auction all at the same time. For example, at the time of this writing, DealDash is holding an “auction blast” of 50 state bid packs that are all going up for auction at 5 p.m. Pacific Time (which is my time zone).

By the time you read this blog, this “auction blast” will have come and gone. However, DealDash is sure to have more “auction blasts” in the future.

Best Strategy

During this event, shoppers might ask, “What should I do and where should I start when I see 50 of the same item go up for auction all at the same time?” The greatest challenge during this event is figuring out what might be the best winning strategy. Should we place a few bids on several of the auctions, several bids on a few of the auctions or all of our bids on one auction? We might also wonder if we would be better off choosing to bid on one of the first auctions or one of the last ones listed. Perhaps we might try one strategy one time and another strategy the next time to see which one works best.

Regardless of the strategy we choose, we might have an even better opportunity to become one of the winners in the next “auction blast.” This event really breaks up any monotony and can be great fun.

DealDash Shopper Turns Sheets into Masks

When I first started shopping on DealDash.com in 2012, one of the first things I noticed was the feeling of being a part of a friendly and caring community. Now, more than ever, that feeling of “we’re in this together” has shown to be true.

Ever since COVID-19 has spread throughout the world, many caring people have come together in a big way, including DealDash. After announcing its huge donation of protective face masks, the effort to help contribute has now trickled down to include some DealDash patrons as well.

One DealDash customer got several sets of sheets that she is now putting to a much different use than expected. Instead of using them on a bed, this customer decided to use her sheets to make and distribute protective face masks to restaurants, doctor’s offices, nursing homes, gas stations and pharmacies. No doubt, providing these protective masks will end up saving countless lives.

Working Together

Often times during a crisis, such as COVID-19, we see the best characteristics come out in humankind as everyone works together toward a common goal. Knowing that DealDash and some of my fellow shoppers have joined in this effort makes me feel even more proud to be part of the DealDash community.

By working together, we will all soon see a light at the end of this awful period of quarantine. Let’s give a big shout-out of praise to DealDash and all of its patrons, especially this customer who put her winning sheets to such good use.

How to Conquer Boredom

Virtually all entertainment is in lockdown to prevent COVID-19 from spreading and many people staying home and/or in quarantine find it very difficult to do.

Don’t worry. I have the perfect solution to conquer boredom.

You can still have fun and entertainment by playing on DealDash.com. That’s something we can do online from the safety and comfort of home. All we need is to have access to the internet on a computer, laptop, phone or another electronic device where Internet access is available.

Easy to Get Started

If you have never before shopped on DealDash.com it is easy to get started. Just follow these simple steps:

  1. Registration is free. Just fill out a new member form, choose a screen name and icon.
  2. Before you can start shopping on DealDash, you must purchase a bid pack. Bid packs often go on sale. Today, bids are only 12 cents each. You can choose 60 bids for $7.00 or 300 bids for $36.00 or 600 bids for $72.00 or 2,400 bids for $288.00 or 5,000 bids for $600.00. Sometimes the first bid pack new members purchase costs slightly more.
  3. Each time you place a bid in an auction, the selling price goes up one penny and you get 10 seconds on the clock. If the clock runs down to zero and nobody else places a bid, the last bidder wins the auction.
  4. On the bottom left of your screen, you will see a green line move to the left every time you place a bid. Once this line gets all the way to the left, you will win free bids. Each time you win free bids, you will move up to the next level. The higher the level, the more free bids you win.
  5. Before you start placing bids on auctions, you should go to the top of the home page and click on “How it Works.” It’s important to learn how to use the automated bidder called “Bid Buddy” and get many other tips on how to play smart.
  6. The auction clock restarts from 10 seconds every time someone bids.

If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to call a DealDash representative. They always provide excellent customer service and will be happy to answer any questions you might have to get started.

Testing, Testing

Sometimes coming up with a winning plan has a lot to do with testing, knowing what kind of tests to run and when.  That’s how we find out what works and what does not work.

This can also apply when shopping on DealDash.com.

Example

Let’s say you are bidding in an auction, the bidding gets down to the last two or three people and you are one of them. The bids you have invested are getting low and you are faced with a decision: should you add more bids or stop bidding. How about running a test?

To run a test, you will need to have at least two more active bidders. What you might want to know is whether or not any other bidder is just waiting in the background to jump back into the auction as soon as the bidding gets down to the last two bidders. If that’s the case, you can quickly find out. If another bidder is just waiting to jump in, you will usually find out within two or three turns of dropping out.  If no third player starts playing again, you might want to jump back in and stay in the auction by adding more bids. If another player does jump back in, however, you might have just saved yourself some otherwise wasted bids.

You may also want to check when the other serious players placed their first bid. Have they been bidding since the beginning of the auction? If the other one or two players have been bidding since the beginning of the auction, but you joined the auction much later, it could mean one of two things: 1) The other players are really committed to winning this auction or 2) The other players might run out of bids long before you do.

Another question you might want to ask yourself is: when did the other players join DealDash? If a player just recently started shopping on DealDash, they might not have as many “free bids” as someone who has been shopping on DealDash for several years.

We never know how many bids other shoppers have to play with, but by doing some testing, we will be able to make a better decision if we should add more bids or delete bids and save them for another time.
