‘Early Bird Gets the Worm’

My mother had a saying for everything. Some of her favorite ones were: “When the going gets tough, the tough get going,” “Those who row the boat don’t have time to rock it” and “The Early Bird Gets the worm.”

I didn’t pay much attention to these sayings when I was young because they all sounded like she was trying to get me to work harder and longer hours. However, some of those pieces of advice came back to me at just the right times when I was older and I now know that some of them can even be applied to DealDash.com shoppers too.

When it comes to shopping on DealDash, “The Early Bird Gets the Worm,” could be translated into “Early Shoppers Win the Best Bargains” or “Frequent Shoppers Win the Most Bargains.”

Bargains Won in 24-Hours

In spite of its huge following, DealDash shoppers still win outstanding bargains every day.

I just checked the “Winner’s List” and I saw that within the last 24-hours, three DealDash customers won a 275 bid pack using only 1 bid and it sold for only 1 cent, 2 cents and 3 cents. In fact, I wrote before that winning deals like this often run in patterns. To prove it, I myself placed bids on a 275 bid pack to see what would happen, and I won, too. I used 26 bids and it sold for 74 cents, but that was still a pretty good deal.

Another shopper won the 425 bid pack using only one bid and it sold for 7 cents. Yet, another shopper won the 600 bid pack using 1 bid and it sold at 53 cents, and these examples were not even the best bargain within the last 24-hour period. Nope. One shopper won the 800 bid pack 12 hours ago using only 1 bid for a selling cost of 4 cents, but the best bargain of all was won only 4 hours ago (as of this writing) by a DealDash customer who used 10 bids to win a 2,500 bid pack that sold for $1.06. Wow!

Not only were several bid packs selling at bargain prices, but one loyal customer used 20 bids to win a stainless steel watch with a BIN (Buy It Now price) of $1,700.00. It sold for $3.01 just 10 hours ago. Also, 6 hours ago (as of this writing) a yellow gold women’s watch with a BIN of $375.00 sold for 66 cents and the winner used 11 bids.

Multiple Features

Lately, I’ve noticed that DealDash often runs more than one feature at the same time.

For example, DealDash is now offering a first runner-up discount in selected auctions. That means if we come in right behind the winner when the auction closes (which happens to me a lot) we might qualify for a discounted price of 50% OFF if we do a Buy-It-Now.

At the same time, DealDash is running a 2X (time as the highest bidder multiplier) so we get 18 seconds on the clock for each bid placed, instead of 9 seconds. That makes our green line move a lot faster so we can earn our free bid pack more quickly.

Bottom Line

Winning just a few awesome deals like the ones I listed above makes shopping on DealDash well worthwhile. Happy shopping everyone!

Fourth of July Specials

DealDash.com always highlights and celebrates our national holidays with many special features, and the Fourth of July holiday will be a huge celebration as well that DealDash shoppers will not want to miss.

DealDash will offer special bid packs, a car, some special patriot items, and a significantly large time as highest bidder bonus as well as super cheap bids!

Of course, patriotic Americans have made it a tradition to celebrate our Independence Day with family gatherings, outdoor barbecues of hotdogs and hamburgers, watermelon, potato salad and spectacular displays of fireworks. In fact, Americans are expected to consume 150 million hot dogs during the 4th.

But what is this holiday really all about and how much do we really know about the history of the Fourth of July? Did you know the most difficult color to produce in a fireworks display is the color blue?

July 4th History

The vote for independence actually took place on July 2nd and the first public readings of the Declaration of Independence took place July 8, 1776 in Philadelphia’s Independence Square? However, the Continental Congress formally adopted the Declaration of Independence, announcing the colonies’ separation from Great Britain, on July 4.

Ever since July 4, 1777, Independence Day was celebrated with bonfires, bells and fireworks.  The U.S. Congress made Independence Day an unpaid holiday for federal employees. It was not until 1938, however, that Congress changed Independence Day to be a paid federal holiday.

This year, the 4th of July comes on a Sunday. Does that mean working people will still get a federal holiday? Yes. When Independence Day is on a Saturday, it is observed on Friday and when July 4 is on a Sunday like this year, it is observed on Monday, July 5.  Government offices and schools will be closed.

Why Shop on July 4

Often times during a special holiday like July 4, many other DealDash shoppers are so busy with family and friends that they might not have time to shop. That means it might be the best time to shop because we might have a lot less competition.

New Features

If you have not shopped on DealDash.com for a while you might be missing out on some amazing new features.

I started shopping on www.DealDash.com Feb. 8, 2012, so I have seen many changes over the years. While some special features remain the same, DealDash often introduces new ways to keep shopping on this penny-auction site fun and interesting.

Something I especially like is the variety of ways customers can win free bids. As a customer who makes DealDash a daily habit I especially like the “Daily Challenge” to win free bids. One recent example was to “join in 15 auctions to win 20 free bids.” That’s an awesome deal for DealDash customers because we only have to place one bid on 15 auctions to get 20 bids in return. That gives us an extra 5 bids and as a bonus we might actually win one of those auctions with only one bid.

Let’s take a look at some of the latest new features that I’ve seen.

Winners Got 90 Percent Off

When auction winners get 90 percent off that means DealDash pays 90 percent of the selling cost for the winner while the winner only has to pay 10 percent of the selling price when the auction closes. That sure was an awesome deal for DealDash customers.

As of this writing, DealDash is running a similar feature which they have had for several years now — 50 percent off the selling price. This means DealDash will cover half of the selling price of the auction and the winner only has to pay half of the selling price of the auction.

I really enjoy these special features.

4X or Even 5X on the Clock

If I remember right, DealDash recently ran a feature where customers received as much as 5X on the clock. Instead of getting 9 seconds on the clock for every bid placed, instead DealDash shoppers got up to five times on the clock for a total of 45 seconds (9 x 5) on the clock for each bid placed. Placing bids during this feature moved my green time-line to the right a lot faster. It sure is exciting when I get to collect more than 1,000 free bids when it gets to the end.

I think it’s really awesome when DealDash gives us 1X or 2X on the clock, which they have done for several years now, but when DealDash gave us 4X or even 5X on the clock I found that to be even more exciting.

If you were not shopping during these recent DealDash special features, you really missed out.

Bottom Line

DealDash tends to keep their auctions fresh and I don’t know when DealDash will run these special features again, but the only way to ensure we do not miss any new features, it’s a good idea to check in on a daily basis.

DealDash Summer Plans

Man cooking meat on barbecue grill at outdoor summer party

Hi all you DealDash.com shoppers! Are you planning any summer trips to places where the sun never sets?

Did you know June 21 is the longest day of daylight in the year and there are six places on earth where the sun never sets during certain parts of the year?

Wow! It must be difficult for people to sleep when there is no night, but imagine all the activities people can do in such places when it never gets dark.

The six places where the sun continues to shine are:

  • Norway. In Svalbard, Norway, for about 76 days, from May to late July, the sun never sets, and in the Northern-most inhabited region of Europe, the sun shines continuously from April 10 to August 23. Perhaps that’s why Norway is known as the “Land of the Midnight Sun.”
  • Iceland. The sun shines there from May 10 through July.
  • Canada. In Inuvik and the Northwest territories, the sun shines for about 50 days in summer.
  • Alaska. The sun doesn’t set there from late May to late July.
  • Northern Sweden. From early May to late August, the sun does not set there until midnight and it’s up again by 4:30 a.m.
  • Northern Finland. In the northern parts of Finland people see the sun for 73 days straight during the summer.

What significance does the first day of summer have for DealDash shoppers? While we relax and play in the sun, perhaps we could bring our electronic device with us and do some summer shopping on DealDash, too.

Summer Shopping on DealDash

The first new 16-foot boat has already gotten off to a fine start. If you missed out on getting a bid in before getting locked out, you might want to keep your eyes open in case DealDash decides to auction off another one.

At least it’s not too hard to shop for some other summer items DealDash has listed for auction now:  Here are some of the items we might already have on our summer shopping list:

  • Charcoal Smoker and/or a Wood Fired Pellet Grill Flame Broiler. That might be just what we need to do some barbecuing.
  • BBQ Tool Set. I won a set of these and use it every summer. It such a nice set that it’s the envy of the neighborhood
  • Men’s Golf Driver. This might be just what any golf enthusiast might want.
  • Croquet set with carrying case. I remember how much fun I had playing this game with my many brothers and sisters on nice summer days.
  • Rain jacket and/or umbrellas. We must be prepared for those rainy days during the summer, too. I never had an umbrella when I was growing up, but when I got older I started collecting them. Now I feel very foolish if I get caught in the rain with 36 umbrellas at home.

Most likely DealDash will be introducing other summer items, too. The best way to make sure we never miss out on an opportunity to win any of these items is to open up DealDash every single day. I’ll see you there!
