Make a Winning Difference

Over the last two years, I placed bids on a specific “hard-to-win” auction several times, but never won it until now. What did I do different?

That’s probably the question we should ask every time we shop on DealDash.com. What can I do different that often makes a winning difference?

Most auction items are listed multiple times per day. If we see an item that we really want to win, it might be a good idea to place a few bids on the same auction product the next three or four times it goes up for auction.

Perhaps it will go up for bid late at night, again early in the morning and smack dab in the middle of the day at around noon. Here are some things I’ve learned to look for that could make a winning difference:

  • The time the product goes up for sale might make a difference as to how easy it is to win. I discovered that early hours of the morning might be one of the easiest times of the day to win. However, we must take time zones into consideration, too.
  • The number of people who place bids in the auction before all new bidders get locked out. A rule of thumb that I like to use is to only bid in auctions with 30 or fewer bidders.
  • By the time the auction gets down to the last two people, and each one continues for 50 bids or more, chances are that neither one will quit anytime soon. Trying to win this auction by jumping in near the end of bidding can sometimes work. However, it seldom works when it’s down to two very committed shoppers who have already invested a large number of bids to win. In that case, we are usually better off placing our bids on the next auction when the same item comes up again.

Knowing which auctions to bid in at what time can work wonders when shopping on DealDash, too. It pays to pay attention to what’s happening. In fact, it could make a winning difference.

DealDash Celebrates 10 Years!

Wow! Did you see all the deals on DealDash.com during its fantastic 10-year celebration?

First of all, DealDash offered one of my favorite special features — having the opportunity to win free bids three times faster. Instead of getting 10 seconds per bid on the bidder meter, shoppers earned 30 seconds per bid. However, that was not even the best part.

Like never before, DealDash had some special bid packages for the special week. This time bid packages in the shape of birthday cakes all went up for auction at the same time. I saw so many of them; I didn’t know where to begin, so I just put some bids on every one of them. Later, I went back to add bids to the ones that looked like it had the least amount of competition. That was a good strategy because I ended up winning two of them — one bid pack of 250 bids and one bid pack of 500 bids.

To help more unique users win these auctions, everyone was limited to win no more than one bid pack in each size.

Another thing that made this event even more fun is that I won three new badges without even knowing what I was doing to win them. I later went back to see what I did to win them:

  • DealDash 10 Years Bidding Challenge (Gold) — Place 1000 Bids this weekend to get a discount from your next Bid Pack purchase.
  • DealDash 10 Years Bidding Challenge (Silver) — Place 100 bids this weekend to get 90 Bids back.
  • DealDash 10 Years Bidding Challenge (Bronze) — Place 10 Bids this weekend to get 10 Bids back.

One more badge that I did not yet win is still available:

  • DealDash 10 Years Auction Win Challenge — Win 10 auctions in 10 days (by 3/27) to earn 300 Bids and a small special reward.

This last badge poses a bit of a challenge. I managed to come in as first-runner-up a couple times, but it requires a lot of focus to win 10 auctions in 10 days.

Regardless, I have not had this much fun on DealDash in a long time. I almost felt like a brand new customer again.

‘New’ Labels are New

How long as it been since you have opened DealDash.com?

DealDash support staff recently made another change to improve the shopping site and make it easier for patrons to use. Did you see the new red boxes that say “New” on various auctions offered on DealDash?

If we are looking for “new” products on DealDash.com, we no longer have to hunt for them because they are already clearly labeled for us with a little red box labeled “New.”

Some of the “new” items now labeled with the red “New” box are:

  • New vehicles
  • Memory foam mattress
  • New oil paintings
  • Elliptical and recumbent exercise bike
  • New watch
  • Microscope
  • Wireless headphones
  • Sushi plate (set of three)
  • Cooler cup
  • Fruit bowl

Sometimes new auctions can be the easiest to win. It’s a good idea to check them out to see how strong the competition might be. When DealDash runs the “no new bidders after $3” feature, we might find more auctions that do not have too many shoppers. If we can find any auction with 30 competitors or less, we will have an easier time to plan a working winning strategy.

Best DealDash Features

Do you have a favorite feature on DealDash.com?

Some customers shop on DealDash every day, but some customers might shop a lot more when their favorite feature comes up. Below are some of my favorite DealDash features.

One per Customer
One thing I like about this feature is that it’s available every day. All we have to do is look in the upper left corner of the auctions to find the little yellow square with the number 1. Whenever we see that, we know that auction product has a limit of “one per customer.” I love auctions that have a limit of “one per customer” because it prevents a handful of power bidders to win more than their fair share of the high-dollar items, and it might help the rest of us to win the product.

2X and 3X Time as highest bidder
Look at the green line at the bottom right-hand side of your screen. Whenever we see the 2X feature, we will get twice as much time on the clock as the highest bidder; and whenever we see the 3X feature, we will get three times, or 30 seconds for each bid on the timer, instead of just 10. In other words, placing 300 bids on a 3X feature is like placing 900 bids instead. That means our green line will move all the way to the right a lot faster and when it does, we will be able to collect some more free bids.

No New Bidders After $3
I love this feature because this usually means we will have less competition because all new players will be blocked from placing any bids once the auction price reaches $3 instead of $5 (or in the case of some cars, $1,000).

Fifty Percent Off to the Winner
This feature means that after the auction closes, DealDash will pay half of the selling price and the winner pays only the other half. In other words, if the auction closes at $50, DealDash will pay $25 and the winner will pay $25. During this feature, we have the opportunity to win some really great bargains.

If you have not shopped on DealDash during all of these special features, check it out. Features like these helps to keep DealDash a fun place to shop
