We always try to give you the best tips and advice here on the DD Tips blog, but it can be very helpful to know the wrong things to do as well. This way you can avoid falling into bad bidding habits. Read on for more information, from DealDash.

Don’t Be Reckless With Your Bids

Buying or winning a big bid pack can be an amazing feeling. Unfortunately, sometimes when we have so many bids at our disposal we can become a little reckless with our bids. For example, if you only have 100 bids in your bid bank you are probably going to try and conserve them. Just sprinkling a few bids here and there on various items, or using all 100 on an auction that you’re planning on doing a BIN (Buy It Now) on.

However, if you win or buy a giant 2,000+ bid pack, then I bet you are going to be way more generous with your bids than you usually would be. Sure, maybe you will win a few extra auctions by bidding on things you wouldn’t normally bid on, but you will probably lose your fair share, as well. It’s always smart to try and conserve your bids for a rainy day. Be cognizant of what you are spending your bids on, and don’t bid recklessly.

Don’t Forget to Bid Every Day (For Free Bids)

Another thing that you want to avoid is forgetting to stop by DealDash every day and placing at least a couple of bids. That’s right – every single day that you come to DealDash and place a bid they will give you free bids. The trick to getting these free bids is to be sure that you don’t skip any days bidding on DealDash. You have to visit on consecutive days to get the free bids. DealDash will give you free bids every day starting with 4 and continuing on to 6, 8, 10, 14, 20, then 30 free bids! You will continue to receive 30 free bids every consecutive day that you come and place a bid. This is an amazing bonus, but you can’t get it unless you come every day.

Only Buy Bids on Sale

STOP! Don’t buy those bids yet until you have decided if they are the best price you’ll be able to get. If you are in desperate need of some bids, just buy a few, as in the smallest bid pack. However, if the bid prices are good, such as .13, .14, or .15 then buy away! Buy the largest number of bids that will work with your DealDash budget when you see the bid prices sink.

Search for Needed Items

If you’re shopping at other stores, either online or in-store for a specific item you should check out DealDash first. DealDash has many different items that you probably buy on a regular basis such as items for your home and toys for your kids. Why would you bother shopping elsewhere when DealDash has it for you?
The next time you are shopping for a specific item, be sure to do a search on DealDash first. You might be pleasantly surprised and be able to snag an awesome deal on the exact item that you were prepared to pay for price for elsewhere.

Add or Cancel Bids On DealDash

It is extremely easy to add bids or cancel bids at any point during the auctions on the DealDash.com shopping site, but sometimes it’s difficult to know which one to do.

Should we add more bids and go for the win or should we cancel our bids and save them to use on another auction later on?

Since I started shopping on DealDash Feb. 8, 2012, I faced this dilemma many times. Sometimes an auction closed right after I canceled my bids and sometimes I added more bids when the auction did not close for a long time.

Now, after winning 739 auctions, I’m getting better at knowing when to add bids and when to cancel them. No matter how much experience we have, however, I doubt anyone gets it right all the time. Now when an auction gets down to the last three players, I’ve learned that it helps to ask the following questions:

  1. Are the players left in the game all serious bidders or are some of them simply random bidders? Sometimes I canceled my bids too early when I thought a third player jumped into the game. After placing only one or two bids, however, the third player dropped out. I learned that before canceling my bids, it is important to make sure the last three players in the game have any staying power.
  2. At what point in the auction did the last three players start placing bids? If they started bidding at the very beginning of the auction, they are more likely to run out of bids. If they placed their first bid just before the $5.00 lockout, they are less likely to run out of bids.
  3. What was the average closing price of this auction, and has the auction price reached or passed that amount yet?
  4. Is this a “Free to the winner” auction? Remember, free auctions tend to run longer because shoppers do not have to worry about paying the final closing cost.
