Read the Descriptions

“What you see is what you get.” Flip Wilson first coined that phrase on TV in the 1960s and later used it in his own show in the 1970s, but its origin dates back long before that.

You might ask, “What does this quote have to do with shopping on DealDash.com and/or is it true?” Well, maybe it is and maybe it’s not.

Auction Photos

DealDash does an excellent job of posting clear photos, so most of the time I think that just looking at the photos is good enough for me. I only read the description if I never saw the product before and don’t know what it is or what it does.

Before we start shopping on DealDash, however, it might be a good idea to read the descriptions of the auction products, too.

Auction Descriptions

By reading the descriptions we learn a lot more about the auction products than we do by simply looking at the photos.

For example, I once placed a lot of bids on a projector screen that I did not win, so I did a BIN (Buy-It-Now) to get all my bids back free. That was a huge mistake because I failed to read the description. Therefore, I ended up with an expensive product that I did not really want. I wanted a smaller, mobile screen with legs that I could take in my car and set up at various locations. Instead I got a huge screen that was meant to be permanently installed in one place. It came with a lot of complicated hardware to mount to a wall and roll up and down.

It was my own fault that I ended up with a product I could not use because I failed to read the description. If I had read the description of the movie screen, I would not have placed bids on it in the first place because it was not the kind of screen I wanted.

Customer Reviews

Besides reading the description of the auction product before we start bidding, we can also read customer reviews. By reading the product descriptions and reviews, we could avoid wasting money on products we never use.

Curiosity did not kill the cat (on DealDash!)

When shopping on DealDash.com one of the most important qualities for successful bidders to have is a strong sense of curiosity.

You might ask, “But didn’t curiosity kill the cat?” My answer: “No.” What we do not know can and does hurt us, so I believe having a strong sense of curiosity is a healthy characteristic, not a bad one. After all, isn’t it because of our natural sense of curiosity that we learn anything in the first place?

I grew up with lots of sayings and my mom had a quote for every situation, but not all of those sayings made sense. Most of them were very helpful, but “curiosity killed the cat” was not one of them. Some of my favorite helpful sayings were:

  • “When the going gets tough, the tough get going!”
  • “Those who row the boat don’t have time to rock it!” and
  • “When you feel like giving up (quitting), remember the giant oak tree. It started out as just a little nut that held its ground.”

Benefits

Many of us started bidding from the home page, but our natural sense of curiosity quickly made us stop and ask questions. Therefore, we soon learned how to find and use BidBuddy, which saved us a lot of bids and frustration.

Yesterday I was shocked to see a customer who joined DealDash in 2012 and that customer was still cutting the clock and wasting bids by bidding from the home page. Perhaps some customers might lack a healthy sense of curiosity. When we are curious, and we see something is not working well, we stop and ask questions. When we ask questions, we get answers.

Having a strong sense of curiosity has many other benefits as well. By asking questions and reading blogs, we develop many new strategies and win more auctions.

The Best Things About DealDash

DealDash

If you’re a DealDash fan then you must like a lot of things about the site. Here are some of the features that I think are the best.

What are some of the things about DealDash that you think are the best? I have been on DealDash for quite a few years now, so I have a good idea of some of my favorite features and perks. Some are old, some are new, but all of them are the best features that DealDash offers.

BidBuddy is the Best

No matter if you are a recent bidder or an “old hand” at the bidding game, many people would agree that the BidBuddy is one of the best features that DealDash offers. The BidBuddy will bid for you when you don’t have time to sit in front of the computer and babysit the auction you are interested in. Here are the easy directions to use the BidBuddy:

  1. Choose an auction
  2. Find the box in the auction that says “Book a BidBuddy”
  3. Type in the number of bids as you are willing to spend on an auction
  4. Hit Enter

The Variety of Auctions is the Best

DealDash is truly one-stop shopping for your whole family. There are things for babies such as cribs and strollers. There are things for kids and teens such as toys and video games. Seniors and adults, there are lots of things for you as well, from gardening to electronics to small kitchen appliances. Some other auction sites out there only have one type of item, such as gift cards, but DealDash has the biggest variety around.

Get the Best Customer Service

When you contact DealDash customer service you aren’t just a number – you’re a special bidder that needs a little assistance. There are two easy ways to get in touch with customer support, and they both begin with you clicking the big yellow “Contact Support” button at the bottom of the main auction home page, on the right-hand side. From there, you can either send an email to support, or you can do live chat.

Either way works, it just depends on how pressing your issue is, and if you mind waiting a few hours for an answer versus immediate gratification. No matter which way you choose, you will be connected with a friendly and DealDash savvy customer support agent that will be able to answer your question.

10 Things To Be Thankful For On DealDash

If you’re on DealDash, you’re sure to be as much of a fan as I am. With Thanksgiving just around the corner, it’s more important than ever to be thankful for all the blessings in our lives from family and friends to all the little things that make us smile. One of those little things I’m thankful for is DealDash and I’m happy to tell you why.

1. Selection – The selection of unique and everyday items on DealDash is incredible. There are so many categories from which to choose just the right item, whether it’s a gift for a loved one or yourself.

2. Deals – Incredible deals every day is the reason I bid and win on DealDash. There is simply no better place to snag a great bargain.

3. Promotions – DealDash offers a different type of promotion almost every day. Check back daily to find free and half-price auction wins, the ability to earn time as highest bidder toward free bids faster and great sale prices on bid packs.

4. Free Shipping – Free shipping on every item every day is one of the best perks of bidding and winning on DealDash. Nothing says great deal like free shipping.

5. Badges – These fun little gems let you know when you reach certain levels of winning and is really fun every time you get an alert when you earn a new badge.

6. Customer Service – The customer service team at DealDash is consistently top-rated by bidders because they display great caring and knowledge. If you have a question or concern, they are always available and happy to help.

7. Easy Returns – Though I have rarely had issues with products, returns have always been easy and painless. That says a lot.

8. Heard Voices – DealDash routinely asks for and welcomes feedback and suggestions from its users and amazingly, they are always taken into consideration for future updates and changes to the site. They truly want a great customer experience for bidders.

9. Buy It Now Option – Even if you don’t win, you still have the great opportunity to purchase an item at retail value and get all your bids back for use on future auctions. It’s a great thing when you would have purchased the item anyway.

10. BidBuddy – Never sit and babysit your auctions again with BidBuddy. You tell the Bid Buddy how many bids you want to place and it does it for you! It’s honestly the greatest feature on DealDash.

Favorite Special Events on DealDash

Favorite Special Events                                                                                                                                                        by Barbara

DealDash.com offers many different special events on a regular basis. This helps to keep the shopping site interesting so customers return on a regular basis, too.

Three of my favorite special events are:

  1. Free to the winner—Whenever DealDash.com makes all of its auctions “free to the winner” customers only pay for the cost of the bids it takes to win it, plus only a one penny transaction fee. During this feature, shoppers do not have to pay a closing cost; however, it usually takes more bids to win. Customers tend to bid more because they can afford to bid more. If shoppers get into the right auction at the right time, however, they can really save a lot of money during this “free-to-the-winner” event.
  2. Fifty-percent off to the winner—When DealDash.com offers this event, the winning customer pays only half of the closing cost and DealDash.com pays the other half. For example, if the closing cost is $100 the customer only has to pay $50 and DealDash pays the other $50.00. I believe it might be easier to win this feature because there does not appear to be as much competition as the “free-to-the-winner” features. At the same time, shoppers can still win some awesome deals.
  3. 3X on the timer—this means shoppers will earn free bids on the clock three times faster. Instead of getting only 10 seconds on the clock for each bid, shoppers receive 30 seconds on the clock for each bid instead. That means the green line that appears at the bottom right of the computer screen will move three times faster. Once it reaches the end, customers can collect more free bids.

The Clean Machines at DealDash

You may not think to go to DealDash first for your cleaning machines, but they have such a great variety of cleaning devices, I thought I would highlight a few of my favorites, give some comparisons and talk about retail pricing.  This is a very popular category at DealDash, it seems everyone wants a new vacuum or a pressure washer.

O'Cedar Easy Wring Spin Mop & Bucket $41
O’Cedar Easy Wring Spin Mop & Bucket $41

I am one of those people, I love to shop in this category, between my home and the home of my two adult children, we have a lot of cleaning to do.  My favorite win in the “cleaning machine” category is an unbelievable, awesome mop, believe it or not.  I love this mop!  I will never touch a mop-head again, I’ve had this one for a couple of years now and it’s still like brand new.  If ever I needed to replace it, I would go straight to DealDash and win another one.  I paid about .45 cents for my first one!  I call this a “machine” because it has a spinning feature where you don’t have to touch the mop-head, it spins the water out, you dip in the bucket and then step on the pedal and spin, it’s great because you can use really hot water too!  If you don’t like moping the floor, and who does? You need this mop.

Panasonic Canister Vacuum $219
Panasonic Canister Vacuum $219

Moving on, let’s talk about the elephant in the room, the item I haven’t won.  I haven’t really tried very hard, but I have tried a couple of times to win this Panasonic Canister Vacuum, I’ve had a similar vacuum in the past and after a few upright canister vacuums, I’d like to try this style again.  I like the idea of having a bag to catch the dust.  I also like that you only have to push around the wand and not the entire canister.  For those reasons I highlight the canister vacuum as my favorite vacuum choice at DealDash.

karcher k 2.26M+T50 184
Karcher k 2.26M+T50 $184

For outdoor cleaning the deck, your driveway and your car, this lightweight Karcher K2.26M + T50, with wand and 5 attachments makes your outdoor cleaning easier.  This is an item on my wish list, but I haven’t gone for it yet. I’m waiting for just the right moment, defined by who is in the auction, what type of sale DealDash is offering at the time and often, what day of the week it is.  I’ll get it, I usually get everything I’ve set out to get one way or another (win or bin).  Deal Dash has a really nice selection of Pressure Washers, this is my favorite “around the house” model, but they carry pressure washers all the way up to an $800 professional model.  Simply type “pressure washer” in the search bar, select your favorite and bookmark it by clicking the star in the upper right hand corner of the auction or hitting the “Alert Me tab”.  DealDash will send you an email a couple of days before it comes on the market, a day earlier and about an hour or two before it goes live, they don’t want you to miss it.  I usually set an alarm clock the day of the auction.

These are just a few of my favorite cleaning machines they carry at Dealdash. Tip: this popular category takes patience and perseverance, don’t get discouraged if you don’t win it the first time around, you will, just keep trying. Since this auction will take time, I usually look for it during a Free Sale, this way I’m in for the long haul and when I win, I pay nothing, DealDash picks up the tab.  Yes! they do that all the time!

Good Luck and Happy Bidding!!!
